Introducing the Citizen "Center Second" from the 1950s .

A centre second hand is a watch that has a second hand in the centre.
Although this is a common feature in modern watches, until the late 1940s , a small seconds hand at the 6 o'clock position was the norm.

The reason why many manufacturers adopted small seconds was that, with the technology at the time, it was difficult to install a second hand in the center, as the watch would have become thicker.
However, after the war, watch technology improved.
When watches with center seconds appeared, every company rushed to develop them.

As a result, Citizen began development to prove its technology to the world, and in 1948 , it released its first watch with a center second function.

The "Center Second" model we are introducing is a rare piece with a white and gold bull's eye dial.

Minute markers are printed around the outer edge of the dial, allowing you to keep track of seconds.
In addition, the center gold has blue center cross lines from 3 to 9 o'clock and from 12 to 6 o'clock , making it easy to read the time.

The hands and indexes are elegant gold pencil hands and Arabic numeral indexes.
The indexes are upright, giving the dial a three-dimensional look and a sense of depth.

The case is a round case made of stainless steel.
The lugs have cut edges that accentuate the look, and when viewed from the front, the case design is simple yet powerful.

The "Center Second" has the attractive elegance unique to vintage watches from the 1950s .

The movement is a hand-wound model.

This is Citizen's first center second model.
Although it is a watch from the 1950s , it has a movement with high accuracy and stable operation.

Size: height: 33.7mm , width: 31.2mm , thickness: 9.6mm , weight: 27g .

Although it is small in size, it is plump and thick, so it feels voluminous when worn.
The size is easy to wear for people with thin wrists and women.

The condition of the case is good with the edges still intact.
There are some areas on the dial where the printing is faint, but this does not affect visibility.
The movement is working fine.

All watches sold in our store are internally inspected by a professional watch mechanic upon arrival and are only sold after being determined to be genuine, so you can use them with confidence.

When you purchase a watch, we will deliver it to you with a brand new leather strap.

*For products that come with original watch straps or metal bands, the leather strap will not be attached and will be sent separately as a spare.

When selling antique watches at RESUME, we do not immediately hand over the watch to you upon receiving your order. Instead, we ask a professional craftsman to overhaul it (hereinafter referred to as OH) and deliver it to you after the OH is completed. (This takes about 1 to 2 months.)

A professional craftsman with first-class watch repair technician qualifications will completely disassemble your watch, replace worn parts such as the internal gaskets, clean it, oil it, and perform a thorough overhaul, maintaining it to a daily accuracy of about ±1 minute.
When we deliver the machine, we will also send you our own overhaul certificate, which shows what kind of overhaul was performed, as well as photos of the machine being disassembled and maintained.

Of course, due to the nature of the product itself being a second-hand item, there is no guarantee that it will never break, but we ask for your understanding that we take this approach so that you can enjoy the original performance of the watch and use it with peace of mind in the future.

When you purchase a product, we offer a one-year warranty depending on the model. Even if the warranty period has expired, we will properly repair the product, but there will be a fee. If there is no repair shop near you, please feel free to contact us.
