IWC (International Watch Company) 50's SCHAFFHAUSEN Cal.852
IWC (International Watch Company) 50's SCHAFFHAUSEN Cal.852
Introducing the IWC "Schaffhausen Cal.852 " in the 1950s .
In 1868 , American watchmaker Florence A. Jones founded IWC with the aim of creating watches with a higher level of perfection by incorporating American manufacturing methods that mass-produce parts using machines and traditional Swiss techniques. .
IWC , a fusion of American technology and Swiss handcrafting, grew into a major watch manufacturer producing many famous models, including the company's signature movement, the Pellaton automatic.
The philosophy of the company's founding has been passed down to this day, and the company continues to create watches that combine technology and innovation.
Schaffhausen's cursive IWC name exudes a classical atmosphere.
Because the design eliminates all unnecessary decoration, each part stands out and has the charm of a sophisticated and elegant watch.
The dial, which was originally silver, has faded to ivory over time, and has upright Arabic numerals.
And the dolphin hands are designed a little thicker.
Even a slight difference in the size or shape of any one of the parts can cause the balance to collapse at once.
Although it is a simple design, it is based on detailed calculations.
The movement is equipped with a self-winding Cal.852 with 21 jewels.
Developed independently by IWC , it uses the "Pellaton automatic winding" mechanism, which is the company's signature movement.
It is designed to wind the mainspring more efficiently than other automatic winding mechanisms.
It was the first movement to be produced in earnest, and approximately 60,000 pieces were produced before the next Cal.853 appeared, proving the excellence of the Pellaton style. .
Size: Height: 41.8mm , Width: 36.7mm , Thickness: 11.5mm .
Although it is a little larger than the watches we carry, the design is simple, so it doesn't make too much of a statement when worn, and is easy to incorporate into your styling.
The dial shows some changes due to aging, but it gives it the feel of a vintage watch.
The case has firm edges and the movement is in good working order.
Schaffhausen was designed with an emphasis on practicality rather than spectacular decoration.
The design embodies simplicity and robustness, and goes well with suits and jackets.
Pairing it with a leather jacket such as the A2 gives it a more casual look, so it's fun to incorporate it into your styling.
It is a piece that combines tradition and innovation and continues to fascinate many people.
