Introducing the 1969 Omega "Constellation".
The Omega "Constellation," launched in 1952, is the company's iconic chronometer collection.
Omega, which has achieved excellent results in observatory precision competitions over many years, incorporated its high-precision watchmaking into commercial models with this series. The dials bear the inscription "OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED" to indicate chronometer certification.
The observatory and eight stars engraved on the case back are a design unique to the Constellation, symbolizing Omega's accumulated precision records.
Initially, the collection primarily featured classical round cases, but in the late 1960s, a design known as the "C-line" emerged, making the case and lugs appear integrated.
The Ref.168.029 from 1969, which we are introducing here, inherits the high-precision watchmaking cultivated by the Constellation, while incorporating a day-date display and a modern case design characteristic of the era.
■ Dial and Case Design
The dial is a silver dial with a delicate pattern reminiscent of the texture of fine linen.
Depending on the angle of light, it changes from bright white to subdued silver, creating a soft luster and depth within its simple color scheme.
The hour markers are three-dimensional bar types with a black line in the center.
Only the 12 o'clock position features a combination of two, harmonizing with the sharp pencil hands that also have black lines.
The day and date are arranged side-by-side at the 3 o'clock position.
By surrounding the outer edge with a three-dimensional frame, visibility is ensured while also providing a prominent accent to the dial.
Surrounding the dial is a coin-edge bezel with fine notches all around.
Also known as a fluted bezel, it is documented in Omega's materials as being made of 18K white gold.
The slightly different hue and elegant luster from the stainless steel case add a special touch unique to this model.
The case features a "C-line" design, where the case body and lugs appear integrated.
The top surface and sides are primarily finished with a hairline brush, creating a calm appearance with reduced luster.
This design combines a delicate silver dial with a white gold coin-edge bezel and a robust C-line case, resulting in a modern look characteristic of the late 1960s and the elegance of the Constellation.
■ Movement
The movement is Omega's automatic "Cal.751".
It is a movement that inherits the lineage of Omega's iconic 500-series movements, featuring 24 jewels, 19,800 vibrations per hour, and approximately 50 hours of power reserve.
The Cal.751 mounted in the Constellation is chronometer-certified, and the movement is engraved to indicate 5-position and temperature adjustments.
The meticulous adjustment, prioritizing accuracy, suggests that Omega positioned the Constellation as a premium collection at the time.
It features a day-date mechanism displaying the day and date at the 3 o'clock position, and the date can be quick-set by operating the crown.
It is an automatic movement representative of Omega in the late 1960s, combining high-precision watchmaking with everyday usability.
■ Styling
Case size: Length 40.4mm (including lugs) / Width 36.8mm (including crown) / Thickness 11mm / Weight 45g (including strap)
With its elegant silver dial and white gold coin-edge bezel, this watch can be worn with a wide range of outfits, from jacket styles to smart casual.
Pair it with a navy or charcoal gray jacket, a white shirt, or a fine-gauge knit to create a sophisticated style that highlights the Constellation's refined atmosphere.
The black leather strap ties the look together, creating a calm and mature ensemble.
For holidays, we recommend pairing it with an Oxford shirt, polo shirt, or simple knit.
The distinctive C-line case adds a vintage accent to basic attire.
While possessing classical elegance, its modern design characteristic of the late 1960s means it's not overly formal, making it a watch that can be naturally incorporated into everyday wear.
■ Condition
The exterior shows minor scratches consistent with use as a vintage watch, but there are no noticeable deep scratches or major damage, maintaining an overall good condition.
Neither the dial nor the hands show any noticeable deterioration that would impair legibility.
The movement is currently running smoothly. All functions, including time adjustment, day-date display, and calendar change, are operating without problems.

● Important Information Regarding Your Antique Watch Purchase – Please Read ●
At RESUME, when selling antique watches, we do not deliver them immediately upon order.
Instead, we commission a specialized craftsman to perform an overhaul (hereinafter referred to as OH), and deliver the watch after the OH is completed. (This takes approximately 1-2 months.)
A specialized craftsman, certified as a Class 1 watch repair technician, will completely disassemble the watch, replace worn parts such as internal gaskets, clean, and lubricate it.
A thorough OH will be performed, and the watch will be adjusted to an accuracy of approximately ±1 minute per day.
When we deliver the watch, we will also include our unique OH certificate, detailing the work performed, along with photos of the movement disassembly and maintenance.
While it is true that the product itself, being used, cannot be absolutely guaranteed against breakdowns, we take these steps to ensure you can enjoy the watch's original performance and use it with peace of mind in the future. We appreciate your understanding.
When purchasing a product, a 1-year warranty period is provided depending on the model. Even after the period has passed, we will provide repair services, although a fee will apply.
If you do not have a repair shop nearby, please feel free to consult us.
