ORIENT 60's OLYMPIA CALENDAR Swimmer
ORIENT 60's OLYMPIA CALENDAR Swimmer
Introducing the Orient "Olympia Calendar Swimmer" from the 1960s .
In the 1950s , as Japanese watch manufacturing was in full swing, Orient moved ahead of other domestic manufacturers to capture markets overseas such as China and the United States.
However, in order to compete overseas, where Swiss watches already dominated the market, Orient launched sales with the originality of ``high quality, low prices, and designs that cannot be found in Swiss watches.''
Among them, Orient received high praise for its in-house movements, but in terms of design, it introduced the world's first rectangular watch for ladies, and other watch manufacturers also released rectangular watches. It made an impact.
In this way, Orient, which was born in Japan, grew into a company that was recognized and active all over the world.
The "Olympia Calendar Swimmer" we are introducing this time is a model released to commemorate the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
Despite having a short manufacturing period of about 4 to 5 years, it is a representative model of the Orient in the 1960s , with various case variations such as triangular and square.
At first glance, the dial looks just matte black, but it has a sunray finish that reflects the light that hits it.
Unlike a normal sunray dial, it is characterized by a heavy reflection of light.
A special "frame" is provided on the outer periphery to surround the central dial.
This "frame" is not just a decoration to give this watch an impression, but also serves as an index to increase visibility.
This is a watch that perfectly embodies Orient's originality of ``a design not found in Swiss watches.''
The movement is equipped with a manual winding type with 19 jewels.
It uses the same type of movement as Orient's representative model "Orient Star" series.
Although it has a calendar function, it has a very simple structure, making it highly durable and easy to maintain.
The movement is easy to use even for those who are new to vintage watches.
Size: Height: 44.1 , Width: 39.3mm , Thickness: 9.5g .
A casual watch with a black dial and yellow accents.
The design is easy to incorporate into casual styles such as shirts and sweatshirts, as well as office casual styles that are not as structured as suits.
Condition: There are some small scratches on the case, but there are no noticeable scratches or dents.
The dial is in good condition with no visible signs of corrosion.
The movement has no rust, remains in beautiful condition, and is working without any problems.
Since it is a waterproof case model, it has higher waterproofness than other Olympia series.
