This is a 1960s Orient "Three Star Special," featuring a refined design with a subtly distinctive slanted script logo.
From the 1950s to the 1960s, the Japanese watch industry saw significant development, with each company competing in precision, durability, and design.
Orient, which resumed watch manufacturing in 1950 and adopted its current company name in 1951, also created numerous wristwatches that combined practicality with unique designs, centered around its in-house mechanical movements.
The "Three Star Special" introduced here is one such watch from the 1960s, when Orient's mechanical watchmaking was maturing.
This model features the "Orient Three Star" logo in script, along with "SPECIAL" and "ANTISHOCK" at the 6 o'clock position. Equipped with a 17-jewel hand-wound movement, both the dial and the movement convey that it is a practical watch with an anti-shock device.
■Dial and Case Design
The dial is a light grey color.
It features a fine vertical line finish, giving it a calm appearance that changes shades depending on how the light hits it.
The indices are applied bar indices with a black line in the center.
The design, with two lines aligned at each position, adds a subtle three-dimensionality to the simple dial.
The hands are a combination of slender dauphine hands and a central seconds hand.
The sharp shape tightens the overall dial, creating a neat and refined impression.
The "Orient Three Star" logo in script is placed diagonally on the upper part of the dial.
The "SPECIAL" and "ANTISHOCK" notations are located around the 6 o'clock position, resulting in a unique dial layout with the script logo at the top and functional notations at the bottom.
The case is made of stainless steel, combining a rounded form with linear lugs.
The slender bezel makes the dial appear larger, giving it a strong presence on the wrist despite its modest size.
The crown retains the "ORIENT" engraving, allowing you to enjoy the original design in its fine details.
■Movement
The movement is a 17-jewel hand-wound type.
As indicated by "ANTISHOCK" on the dial, the balance wheel is equipped with an anti-shock device, making it a practical design for everyday use.
The simple structure and the tactile experience of winding the crown by hand, unique to mechanical watches, are also attractive features.
The movement is engraved with "ORIENT," "17 JEWELS," and a star mark, allowing you to confirm Orient's distinctive design from that era even internally.
■Styling
Case size: Length 39.7mm (including lugs) / Width 29.5mm (including crown) / Thickness 8.8mm / Weight 23g (including strap)
The refined design, combining a light grey dial with slender indices, pairs well with neat attire such as shirts and jackets.
The black leather strap sharpens the overall impression and naturally blends with styling based on grey or navy.
On the other hand, when paired with knitwear, cardigans, or denim, the delicate finish of the dial and the script logo provide a subtle accent, allowing you to enjoy a vintage atmosphere.
Due to its understated design, this watch is easy to incorporate into a wide range of outfits, both on and off duty.
■Condition
The case shows minor scratches and signs of wear due to age, but there is no significant damage that would compromise its overall form.
The dial shows minor age-related changes, but the grey dial color, script logo, and index design are well preserved.
Dust can be seen inside the crystal, but this will be removed during the overhaul before delivery.
The movement is currently running, and before delivery, it will undergo an overhaul including disassembly cleaning, oiling, and accuracy adjustment.

●Important information after purchasing an antique watch, please read carefully●
At RESUME, when selling antique watches, we do not deliver them immediately after receiving your order.
Instead, we request a complete overhaul (hereinafter OH) from a professional craftsman, and deliver the watch after the OH is completed. (This usually takes about 1-2 months.)
A professional craftsman, certified as a Class 1 watch repair technician, will completely disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts such as internal gaskets, clean, lubricate,
and thoroughly perform OH, adjusting it to an accuracy of about ±1 minute per day.
When we deliver the watch, we will also send our original OH certificate, along with photos of the disassembly
and maintenance process, showing you what work was performed during the OH.
Of course, due to the nature of used products, there is no absolute guarantee that the watch will never break, but we take these measures to ensure that you can enjoy the watch's original performance
and use it with peace of mind in the future. We kindly ask for your understanding.
For product purchases, we offer a 1-year warranty period depending on the model. Even for products outside the warranty period, we offer repair services, though they will be charged.
Please feel free to consult us even if you do not have a repair shop nearby.
