Introducing the 1970 Orient "Three Ace Deluxe".

From the late 1960s to the early 1970s, Japanese wristwatches saw significant advancements in design, alongside the evolution of automatic winding mechanisms and calendar functions.

During that era, Orient's "AAA DELUXE" was one of the high-end series equipped with the 49-series automatic movement. A wide variety of models were produced, from refined dress models to sporty "SWIMMER" and "KING DIVER" watches.

This particular piece is a "THREE AAA DELUXE" from the 1970s, continuing that lineage. The practical design with day-date display and the prominent case shape showcase Orient's originality of the time.

■ Dial & Case Design

The dial, which makes use of the texture of metal, and the powerful case design are impressive.

The dial is a silver dial with a fine vertical hairline finish. Instead of strongly asserting gloss, soft shades are created depending on the angle at which light is received, showing a sense of depth even in its simplicity.

While the three-dimensional bar indexes and sharp dauphine hands neatly tighten the entire dial, a red emblem and facing lions are placed at the 12 o'clock position. Along with the "ORIENT AAA DELUXE" inscription, it subtly adds a touch of splendor befitting a high-end model.

At the 3 o'clock position, the day and date are displayed in separate windows. The three-dimensional frame and black date display create a striking accent against the silver dial.

The case has a rounded bezel encased in an angular shape, a typical design from the 1970s. By using a wide hairline finish on the case surface and gloss around the bezel, the watch as a whole is given a three-dimensional feel.

It is a design that allows you to enjoy the unique individuality of Orient from that era, combining a refined dial with a powerful case.

■ Movement

The movement installed is the 21-jewel automatic Cal.4941.

The "4941" engraved on the rotor is an abbreviated notation used by Orient at the time, and officially belongs to the Cal.34941 series. It is one of the 34-series movements adopted in high-end models such as the AAA DELUXE.

In addition to automatic winding by arm movement, it also supports manual winding and features a practical design with central three hands and day-date display. The date can be advanced by pushing the button at the 2 o'clock position on the case.

While not a machine with elaborate decorations, the solid construction with necessary functions reflects the craftsmanship of an era when Japanese automatic watches were reaching maturity. It is a practical Orient watch that supports daily timekeeping within its robust case design.

The combination of a silver dial and black leather creates a sophisticated, understated vintage look.

It pairs particularly well with neat attire such as a white shirt, navy jacket, or gray slacks. The metallic texture of the dial subtly catches the light at the cuff, adding a delicate depth to a simple outfit.

On the other hand, with its strong case design typical of the 1970s, it also blends naturally with casual attire like denim, chinos, and mid-gauge knitwear.

The dial is in good condition, with no noticeable scratches or significant discoloration, and the vertical hairline finish and three-dimensional indices remain beautifully intact.

The crystal has been replaced with genuine Orient deadstock. Through the clear, scratch-free crystal, you can clearly enjoy the metallic texture of the silver dial.

While the case shows some minor signs of use commensurate with its age, there are no noticeable dings or major scratches that would compromise its shape. There are no other specific damages to note, including the movement, and it remains in overall good condition.

● Important Information for Antique Watch Purchases – Please Read Carefully ●

At RESUME, when selling antique watches, we do not deliver them immediately after an order is placed. Instead, we entrust them to a specialized craftsman for overhaul (hereinafter OH) and deliver them after the OH is completed. (This usually takes about 1-2 months.)

A professional craftsman, certified as a Class 1 watch repair technician, will completely disassemble the watch, replace worn parts such as internal gaskets, clean, lubricate, and thoroughly overhaul it, adjusting it to an accuracy of about ±1 minute per day. Upon delivery, we will also provide our unique OH certificate, detailing the work performed during the overhaul, and photographs of the movement during disassembly and maintenance.

While the product itself is pre-owned and therefore not guaranteed to be free from defects, we take these measures to ensure you can enjoy the watch's original performance and use it with peace of mind. We appreciate your understanding.

When purchasing a product, a 1-year warranty period is provided depending on the model. Even for products outside the warranty period, we offer repair services for a fee. If you do not have a repair shop nearby, please feel free to contact us.
