PROTEX 50's Precision Cal.096
PROTEX 50's Precision Cal.096
Introducing Protex "Precision" in the 1950s .
At first glance, the Protex we're introducing today looks elegant like a dress watch, but it has the characteristics of a military watch in its hands and indexes.
When you look at the dial, you'll notice that the black dial has a unique luster, and the all-Arabic numeral indexes are eye-catching.
The luminous paint on the Arabic numerals is applied thickly along the shape of the numerals, making them look round and creating a cute, distinctive font.
As the paint ages, it changes to a beige color, giving it a classic look.
The outer circumference of the dial is embossed with three-dimensional minute markers, allowing you to see time details down to the second.
The presence of markers not only improves visibility, but also tightens the entire dial and makes it look sharp.
The hands used are "cobra hands," which are named because the tip of the hour hand looks like a snake cobra.
Cobra hands can be effectively coated with luminous paint and are highly visible even at night, making them a detail often seen on pilot and military watches.
The manufacturer no longer exists, and this is an extremely rare watch with very few in existence.
The movement is equipped with a 17- jewel hand-wound Cal.096 .
Cal.096 uses a movement from the long-established Swiss watch manufacturer Eska .
It is a movement that was made with an emphasis on practicality, as it is highly durable and also has an earthquake-resistant function, which was unusual for a movement of the time.
Size: Length: 41.1mm , Width: 37.3mm , Thickness: 10.3mm .
Unusual for a watch from the 1950s , it is made in a large size and has a simple dial configuration, making it easy to read.
In addition to the leather belt you are currently wearing, you can also wear a khaki nylon belt for a more casual look, so it goes well with simple outfits such as T- shirts.
You can enjoy the watch by changing the belt according to the coordination of the day or the season.
In terms of condition, the case has only minor scratches and no major scratches or rust.
There are some small scratches on the windshield, but if you wish, you can replace it with a new one at the time of overhaul.
The dial has some stains, but it does not impair visibility, and in fact, it enhances the atmosphere of a vintage watch due to aging.
The movement is working fine.
