Introducing the Rado Balboa V from the 1970s .

In the 1960s and 1970s , Rado established a unique position thanks to its "material innovation."
The scratch-proof design with an ultra-hard tungsten carbide case, as exemplified by the " Diamond Star " in 1962 , spread the brand's name around the world.

The "Balboa" series, which was born in response to this trend, is known as a line that pursues bolder, more fashionable designs while taking advantage of the scratch resistance and texture of a hard metal case.

■Dial and case design

The BALBOA V conveys the distinctive character of Rado from the 1970s at a glance.

The dial is grey in colour with silver highlights depending on the angle of the light.
Furthermore, a special treatment applied to the surface creates triangular shadows depending on the viewing angle.

Unlike uniform matte or sunray finishes, geometric patterns appear and disappear with each movement of the hand.
The dial has a playful feel that is typical of the 1970s , and its texture is truly impressive .

The indexes are upright metal bars, and combined with the thick pencil hands, they provide good visibility.
Although it has a strong design, it is well-balanced and easy to use in everyday life.

The case is a neat tonneau shape.
The sharp surface structure creates a clear outline, while the blue-gray color tightens the overall impression.

The biggest highlight of this watch is that it uses a cut glass crystal.
Depending on the angle, the edges catch the light and the look changes on the wrist in response to the triangular shading on the dial.

The appeal of the BALBOA V is that it is not just about the case design, but also about the glass design, creating a complete watch.

■ Movement

The movement is an automatic winding caliber 2824 with 25 jewels.

This is ETA 's flagship model, which was released in 1971 , and is known as a " practical machine " that has been used by many brands for many years.

It has manual winding and the date can be changed quickly, making it stress-free to use in your daily life.

■Styling

Case size: height: 40.2mm , width: 36.6mm , thickness: 13.1mm , weight: 107g .

For a more casual look, pair it with rugged materials such as fatigues or an M-65 jacket, which will make the edges of the cut glass windshield stand out even more.

If you pair a jacket with a white shirt, the overall look will be neat and tidy, so it can be paired with a neat style.

■ Condition

Condition: The case is in good condition with no scratches.
There is a small chip in the cut glass around 11 o'clock, but it does not affect visibility.
The movement is running smoothly and there are no problems with use.

It is fitted with an aftermarket metal bracelet.

We will also include a special case for the watch when shipping.

Please be sure to read the following information after purchasing an antique watch.

When selling antique watches at RESUME, we do not immediately hand over the watch to you upon receiving your order. Instead, we have a professional overhaul (hereinafter referred to as OH) the watch, and then we deliver it to you after the OH is completed. (This takes about 1-2 months.)

Our specialized craftsmen, who are first-class watch repair technicians, will completely disassemble your watch, replace worn parts such as internal gaskets, clean it, oil it, and perform a thorough overhaul, maintaining it to a daily accuracy of about ±1 minute.

When we deliver the machine to you, we will also send you our own overhaul certificate, which will show you what kind of overhaul work was done on the machine, as well as photos of the machine being disassembled and serviced.

Of course, since the product itself is a second-hand item, there is no guarantee that it will never break, but we ask for your understanding that we have taken this approach so that you can enjoy the watch's inherent performance and use it with peace of mind in the future.

When you purchase a product, we offer a one-year warranty depending on the model. Even if the warranty period has expired, we will still repair the product, but there will be a fee. Even if there is no repair shop nearby, please feel free to contact us.
