Introducing the Seiko "Super" from 1956 .
In the mid- 1950s , Japan's watch industry was undergoing a major turning point.
After the post-war reconstruction, Japanese-made watches had evolved to catch up with Swiss-made watches in terms of precision and quality.
The result was the "Super," which combined high precision and durability and was positioned as a high-grade model among Japanese-made wristwatches at the time.
This model embodies the process by which Japanese watchmaking after the war began to move towards global standards, and is an important presence that could be seen as a stepping stone for Seiko to take on international competition.
Despite its small size, "Super" is characterized by its calm and sophisticated look.
The main highlight of the dial is the upright " S mark" located at the 12 o'clock position.
This extremely rare detail was only found in the initial production run at the time, enhancing the classic atmosphere.
The index is a combination of wedge-shaped and Arabic numerals, creating a calm look.
Although slender, the dolphin hand reflects light sharply, resulting in a neat and highly visible finish.
The dial, which has softened in color with aging, has a warmth unique to vintage watches.
The case features "fancy lugs" with distinctive curves.
It adds a touch of elegance to the simple round case, making the small case appear larger than it actually is.
The finish exudes the luxury and elegance that Seiko was aiming for at the time.
The movement is a hand-wound type with 15 jewels.
The early 8- jewel model did not have a shock-resistant function, but this 15- jewel model is equipped with a shock-resistant device made overseas, making it a commemorative model as it is the first Seiko product to have a shock-resistant function.
Furthermore, it was one of the first to adopt a mechanism known as a three-hand watch at the time.
At the time, there were still few products that used this mechanism, but the fact that many manufacturers later adopted it is proof of the superiority of this movement.
Size: Height: 37.8mm , Width: 33.5mm , Thickness: 10mm , Weight: 30g .
The small, neat design blends naturally with classic styles such as jackets, as well as casual styles such as shirts and knitwear.
Its modest and soft presence, not found in current products, adds a subtle elegance to your everyday life.
The case is in beautiful condition with no noticeable scratches.
The dial has changed due to aging, but this does not affect visibility.
The movement is running smoothly and there are no problems with use.
