Introducing the Seiko Laurel, made in 1961 .

Seiko was founded in 1877 when its founder, Kintaro Hattori, established the Hattori Watch Repair Shop. Initially, he sold and repaired used watches and worked as a repairman at other watch shops, striving to improve his skills. Four years later, in 1881 , he founded the Hattori Watch Shop.

Initially, the company sold and repaired imported watches, but in 1892 , in order to utilize the technology it had cultivated up until then, it established a watch manufacturing division called "Seikosha."

Seiko began by manufacturing wall clocks and went on to successfully develop the first domestically produced pocket watches and wristwatches, building the foundations of Japan's watch industry.

Now, the company has earned the title of "Seiko of the World."

The Seiko "Laurel" we are introducing this time is a model that inherits the name of " LAUREL ", the first domestically produced wristwatch that was born in 1913 .

The dial is a white dial that has aged to a slightly beige hue, and the indexes are upright Arabic indexes.
The needles used are dolphin needles with cut mountain shapes.
At the time, bar indexes were the norm, so it is rare to find one with flying Arabic numerals.

The case is a round case made of 20 micron gold-plated material.
Like the dial, the case has changed color to a slightly reddish gold color with aging.

This makes the watch comfortable on the wrist when worn, allowing you to enjoy the gold case in its natural color.

Although it is a vintage watch, the Laurel is not overly elegant and has just the right amount of casual appeal.

The movement is a hand-wound type with 11 jewels.

It is based on and improved from the movement of one of Seiko's famous models, Marvel, so it has high precision and stable operation.
It is shock-resistant and equipped with a vibration-resistant device, so even those who are handling vintage watches for the first time can use it with confidence.

Size: height: 40.6mm , width: 35.8mm , thickness: 9.9mm , weight: 31g .

It is a size that can be worn by men as well as women without any problems as it is a small size.
In addition, it is made to be lightweight, so you won't get tired even if you wear it for a long time.

In terms of condition, the case has some small scratches due to use, but there is no noticeable peeling of the plating or dents.
There are some spots on the dial between 4 and 5 o'clock, but this does not affect visibility.
The movement is working without any problems.

Please be sure to read the following information after purchasing an antique watch.

When selling antique watches at RESUME, we do not immediately hand them over to you when you place your order. Instead, we ask a professional craftsman to overhaul them (hereafter referred to as OH) and deliver them to you after the OH is completed. (This takes about 1 to 2 months.)

A professional craftsman with first-class watch repair technician qualifications will completely disassemble your watch, replace worn parts such as the internal gaskets, clean it, oil it, and perform a thorough overhaul, maintaining it to a daily accuracy of about ±1 minute.

When we deliver the machine, we will also send you our own overhaul certificate, which shows what kind of overhaul was performed, as well as photos of the machine being disassembled and maintained.

Of course, due to the nature of the product itself being a second-hand item, there is no guarantee that it will never break, but we ask for your understanding that we take this approach so that you can enjoy the original performance of the watch and use it with peace of mind in the future.

When you purchase a product, we offer a one-year warranty depending on the model. Even if the warranty period has expired, we will properly repair the product, but there will be a fee. If there is no repair shop near you, please feel free to contact us.
