Introducing the 1960 Seiko "Super".
The Seiko Super is a hand-wound wristwatch that appeared in the 1950s, and is one of the models that symbolize the era when post-war Japanese watches significantly improved in quality.
At that time, Seiko was focused on improving the accuracy and durability of domestically produced watches, and the Super was developed as a practical watch suitable for everyday use in this trend.
It was also a foundational presence for Seiko, leading to later models like the Marvel and Crown, and its appeal lies not in flashiness, but in its robust construction and refined design.
■Dial and Case Design
The dial is a soft white.
The aging has transformed it into a pale cream color, creating an appealing calm look characteristic of vintage watches.
A fine minute track is placed around the perimeter, and concentric circles are decorated within it.
Within the simple dial composition, this perimeter finish subtly adds depth and enhances the classic atmosphere.
The indices are three-dimensional applied indices.
Their shape, slightly widening towards the tip, is a classic design seen in watches from before the 1950s, differing from the modern linear bar indices.
Even on a small dial, they have a strong presence, and this detail evokes the era-specific charm of the Seiko Super.
The hands are dolphin hands with a slight swelling in the center.
They have a three-dimensional feel within their sharp outline, and catching the light at various angles gives them the refined impression characteristic of hand-wound watches.
The case is a round case made of stainless steel.
With its thin bezel and rounded case lines, the design allows the white dial to be appreciated simply.
The lugs have a gentle curve, a characteristic that makes the case appear to stand slightly when worn.
Despite being a simple round case, the design of these lugs adds a subtle three-dimensional feel to the wrist.
Overall, this watch is not about flashy decoration, but rather captivates with the aged pale cream dial and the sculpted case.
■Movement
The movement is a 15-jewel hand-wound movement.
The inscription "SEIKOSHA 15 JEWELS" can be seen on the main plate, which is an appealing detail that shows a remnant of the era when Seiko still used the name "Seikosha."
It has a simple structure without automatic winding or calendar functions, allowing you to enjoy the original act of a mechanical watch, winding it by hand.
Compared to later models, the decoration is modest, but the robust construction as a practical watch is evident, possessing the rustic charm characteristic of Japanese hand-wound watches from the 1950s to the early 1960s.
■Styling
Case size: Length 37.2mm (including lugs) / Width 32.7mm (including crown) / Thickness 9.3mm / Weight 30g
The combination of the white dial, which has aged to a pale cream color, and the clean stainless steel case makes this watch pair well with classic attire.
When paired with a white shirt or a jacket, it adds a subtle vintage touch to your wrist.
Due to its compact and refined design, it blends naturally with formal wear, providing an elegant impression without being too flashy.
For casual wear, pairing it with knitwear, cardigans, or chinos, the pale cream-colored dial adds a classic touch to your outfit.
When choosing a leather strap, a brown one gives a classic and warm impression, while a black one tightens the overall look and allows you to enjoy a more subdued atmosphere.
While not a flashy watch, it has details that evoke the trends of the 1950s and the simple charm of a hand-wound watch, making it versatile for both everyday use and slightly more formal occasions.
■Condition
Regarding the condition, the dial shows changes due to aging.
While there is an overall aged texture, there are no issues with time legibility, and it is in a condition where you can enjoy the unique look of a vintage watch.
There are no particularly noticeable major damages to the case, hands, or indices.
Furthermore, the movement is operating well, making it reliable for practical use.

●Important information after purchasing an antique watch, please read carefully●
At RESUME, when selling antique watches, we do not deliver them immediately after receiving your order.
Instead, we request an overhaul (hereinafter referred to as OH) from a specialized craftsman, and delivery will be made after the OH is completed. (This typically takes about 1-2 months.)
A specialist craftsman, certified as a Class 1 watch repair technician, will completely disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts such as internal gaskets, clean, and lubricate it.
We will perform a thorough OH and service it to a state with a daily rate of approximately ±1 minute.
Additionally, when delivered, we will include our unique OH certificate, explaining the work performed during the OH, along with photos of the movement during disassembly and maintenance.
Of course, due to the nature of the product being used, there is no absolute guarantee that it will not break, but we take this approach to ensure you can enjoy the watch's original performance and use it with confidence in the future. We appreciate your understanding.
When purchasing a product, a 1-year warranty period is provided depending on the model. Even for products whose warranty period has expired, we accept repair requests, though there will be a charge.
Please feel free to consult us even if there is no repair shop near you.
