Introducing the Seiko "Sportmatic" made in 1961 .

Seiko was founded in 1877 when its founder, Kintaro Hattori, established the Hattori Watch Repair Shop. Initially, he sold and repaired used watches and worked as a repairman at other watch shops, striving to improve his skills. Four years later, in 1881 , he founded the Hattori Watch Shop.

Initially, the company sold and repaired imported watches, but in 1892 , in order to utilize the technology it had cultivated up until then, it established a watch manufacturing division called "Seikosha."

Starting with the manufacture of wall clocks, the company built the foundations for Japan's watch industry by successfully developing the first domestically produced pocket watches and wristwatches, and its technological capabilities are now among the best in the world.

The Seiko "Sportmatic" we are introducing this time is a watch with an impressive two-tone silver and brown dial.

The hands and indexes are large, highly visible dolphin hands, and the indexes are engraved bar indexes, giving the dial a simple design, but the shine of the dial changes depending on the viewing angle, allowing you to enjoy a variety of different looks.

A spinning top mark is printed at the 12 o'clock position, indicating that this watch is equipped with an automatic winding mechanism.
This mark was seen on Seiko watches of that time.

The case is a round case made of stainless steel.
The crown at the 4 o'clock position is stored inside the case, improving the fit and emphasizing the beautiful, balanced form of the design.

A pop sportsmatic, rare among Seiko watches from the 1960s .
This is a recommended watch for those who want a watch with a unique design.

The movement is a 17 jewel automatic, Cal.245 .

Uses Seiko's unique automatic winding mechanism, the Magic Lever.
In addition, the use of ball bearings within the movement ensures smooth operation and ensures reliable winding with less wrist movement.
This movement is packed with Seiko's advanced technology.

Size: height: 42.1mm , width: 35.3mm , thickness: 10.3mm , weight: 37g .

In addition to its small size, the crown is stored inside the case, giving it a sleek silhouette.
It is lightweight and comfortable to wear, so it can be worn without any problems by people with thin wrists or women.

This time, we also have the Sportmatic in stock in the same family but with different color schemes, so you can use them as a pair.

The case is in good condition with no noticeable scratches.
There is a small stain on the dial near the 4 o'clock position, but this does not affect visibility.
The movement is working without any problems.

Please be sure to read the following information after purchasing an antique watch.

When selling antique watches at RESUME, we do not immediately hand them over to you when you place your order. Instead, we ask a professional craftsman to overhaul them (hereafter referred to as OH) and deliver them to you after the OH is completed. (This takes about 1 to 2 months.)

A professional craftsman with first-class watch repair technician qualifications will completely disassemble your watch, replace worn parts such as the internal gaskets, clean it, oil it, and perform a thorough overhaul, maintaining it to a daily accuracy of about ±1 minute.
When we deliver the machine, we will also send you our own overhaul certificate, which shows what kind of overhaul was performed, as well as photos of the machine being disassembled and maintained.

Of course, due to the nature of the product itself being a second-hand item, there is no guarantee that it will never break, but we ask for your understanding that we take this approach so that you can enjoy the original performance of the watch and use it with peace of mind in the future.

When you purchase a product, we offer a one-year warranty depending on the model. Even if the warranty period has expired, we will properly repair the product, but there will be a fee. If there is no repair shop near you, please feel free to contact us.
