SEIKO 64's Grand Seiko Self data Cal.430
SEIKO 64's Grand Seiko Self data Cal.430
Introducing the Seiko Grand Seiko Self-Dater, manufactured in 1964 .
The first Grand Seiko ( GS ) was born in 1960 with the goal of creating a Japanese-made watch that could rival any Swiss-made watch.
When first developing the GS , Seiko established its own precision standards, but they were so strict given the technology available at the time that some asked, "Is it impossible to commercialize a watch according to these standards?"
However, Seiko continued to develop its watches at a furious pace with a global perspective, and by utilizing the development experience it had gained from products such as the highly accurate "Marvel" and its first high-end model, the "Lord Marvel," it finally succeeded in meeting standards equivalent to the Swiss chronometer inspection standards for superior quality.
When it was first released, only watches that achieved a high accuracy of within -3 to +12 seconds per day were considered to have passed the test and were released with a certificate. Even now, more than 60 years later, the GS remains Seiko's flagship model.
The Seiko Grand Seiko Self-Dater we are introducing this time is the second generation GS model.
It features Seiko's original fast-forward date function and increased water resistance of 5 atmospheres, making it even more practical.
The second generation GS is divided into early and late models, and this model is a rare early model with a chronometer designation and a lion medal on the case back.
The dial is an AD specification with a mark consisting of a triangle at the 6 o'clock position.
The AD dial is a model with rhodium-plated brass indexes, which has the advantage of retaining its luster for a long time.
As a result, the bar indexes of this watch also maintain their beautiful shine.
The needles are flat design dolphin needles.
The deliberately flat shape makes it appear thicker and larger, giving it a powerful impression.
The extremely simple design makes the Grand Seiko logo stand out.
The Grand Seiko Self-dater is elegant yet has a dignified look.
The movement is a 35- jewel, hand-wound Cal. 430 .
It is chronometer standard so its precision is guaranteed.
This movement is not only highly accurate, but is also designed with everyday use in mind, with features such as water resistance and a calendar function.
The calendar can be fast-forwarded by operating the crown.
Size: height: 43mm , width: 39.8mm , thickness: 10.3mm , weight: 80g .
Although it has a solid, voluminous size, it is thin and lightweight, so you won't get tired even if you wear it for a long time.
At first glance it has a formal impression, but the simple design can be completely changed by simply changing the belt.
You can wear it in a variety of situations by changing the strap depending on the season, such as a nylon band in summer and a leather band in autumn and winter.
The case is in good condition with no noticeable scratches.
The dial is in beautiful condition with no noticeable wear or stains.
The movement is rust-free and works without any problems. All functions, including hacking and date fast forwarding, work without any problems.
Although it is not a GS original, it is fitted with the original Seiko metal bracelet from that time.

When selling antique watches at RESUME, we do not immediately hand them over to you when you place your order. Instead, we ask a professional craftsman to overhaul them (hereafter referred to as OH) and deliver them to you after the OH is completed. (This takes about 1 to 2 months.)
A professional craftsman with first-class watch repair technician qualifications will completely disassemble your watch, replace worn parts such as the internal gaskets, clean it, oil it, and perform a thorough overhaul, maintaining it to a daily accuracy of about ±1 minute.
When we deliver the machine, we will also send you our own overhaul certificate, which shows what kind of overhaul we performed, as well as photos of the machine being disassembled and maintained.
