Introducing the Seiko "Skyliner," manufactured in 1964.
1964 was a time when Seiko served as the official timekeeper for the Tokyo Olympics, working to improve their timekeeping technology while simultaneously advancing research into the electronic evolution of wristwatches.
The Seiko "Skyliner" was produced during this turning point in watchmaking. Developed as a successor in the lineage of the thin, high-end "Liner" series, it is a hand-wound watch equipped with the Cal.402.
You can enjoy the feel of a vintage Seiko hand-wound watch from that era, capturing the atmosphere of a time when mechanical watches were making significant strides.
■ Dial & Case Design
The silver dial features a sunray finish, with fine lines radiating from the center to the edge when caught by the light.
While it presents a clean, calm impression when viewed directly, changing the angle reveals streaks of light that give the dial depth and expression.
The three-dimensional bar indices and the dolphin hands, which taper toward the tips, enhance its refined appearance.
At the 12 o'clock position is the "SEIKO SKYLINER" logo with its flowing lines.
At the 6 o'clock position, you will find "WATER 30 PROOF," "21 JEWELS," "DIASHOCK," and a star mark.
These period-specific markings regarding water resistance, jewel count, and Seiko’s shock-protection system add a functional character to the simple dial.
The stainless steel case features a slender bezel that cleanly frames the dial, while the multi-faceted lugs add a sharp, sophisticated impression. The contrast between the rounded crystal area and the straight, extending lugs exemplifies its elegant design.
■ Movement
The movement is the hand-wound Cal.402. The bridge is marked with "SEIKOSHA," "21 JEWELS," and "402" in a reddish-orange hue, which catches the eye against the silver plate.
You can watch the movement of the gears and the balance wheel through the openings in the bridge, allowing you to visually appreciate the intricate structure unique to hand-wound mechanical movements.
The engravings and color usage reflect the meticulous craftsmanship typical of Seiko from that era.
■ Styling

With its silver dial and stainless steel bracelet, the Skyliner offers a clean, versatile look. It pairs naturally with shirts and jackets for a polished aesthetic and complements coordinated outfits in calm colors like navy or gray.
When worn with a simple knit or t-shirt, the watch’s refined character provides a subtle accent. Its understated design makes it a piece that is easy to incorporate into your daily wardrobe, whether for business or casual settings.

● Important Information Regarding Antique Watch Purchases ●
At RESUME, we do not ship antique watches immediately upon order. Instead, we commission a professional technician to perform an overhaul (OH). Delivery will take place after this process is complete (approximately 1–2 months).
Our first-class certified watch repair technicians fully disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts such as internal gaskets, clean the components, apply new oil, and perform a thorough overhaul, adjusting the movement to a daily accuracy of within ±1 minute.
When your watch is delivered, we will include our original overhaul certificate, detailing the work performed, along with photographs taken during the disassembly and maintenance process.
While these are vintage items and we cannot provide an absolute guarantee against failure, we take these steps to ensure you can enjoy the watch’s original performance and use it with peace of mind.
We provide a one-year warranty on all models purchased. Even after the warranty period expires, we are happy to provide repair services for a fee. If you do not have a repair shop nearby, please feel free to consult with us.
