SEIKO(セイコー) 65's S-mark Cronos
SEIKO(セイコー) 65's S-mark Cronos
Introducing the Seiko "Chronos" made in 1965 .
"Suwa Seikosha" and "Dai-ni Seikosha" (Kameido Factory) are both part of the Seiko Group, but each company developed its own watches and was in a rival relationship to improve its technical capabilities.
In 1958 , Suwa Seikosha released the "Chronos," a watch made at its Kameido factory, as a rival to the "Marvel" watch that the company released during the chaotic post-war period.
The Chronos, which actively incorporates modern designs from the movement to the case design, surpasses its rival model, the Marvel, which boasts high precision.
Furthermore, it boasts a level of perfection that rivals the performance of Seiko's most famous model, the Crown.
The Chronos led to the development of the later "King Seiko" and is one of the watches that demonstrates the capabilities of the Kameido factory.
"Chronos" was produced by Kamedo Factory, a product that they put their reputation on the line.
The cute, rounded shape is designed to look like a pocket watch shrunk to the size of a wristwatch.
The finish allows you to sense the design of the Kameido factory, which specialized in developing pocket watches.
The dial is silver.
The hands and indexes are gold-colored dolphin hands and unique bullet-shaped wedge indexes.
At the 12 o'clock position is printed the so-called " S mark", which was only found on early production runs.
The Chronos is an attractive watch that features a simple design with excellent visibility, unique to Seiko three- hand watches of the time, as well as an elegant gold color and a calm, gentle look.
The movement is a 17 jewel hand-wound type.
It has succeeded in making the movement thinner than that used in its rival model, the Marvel.
From the initial model onwards, earthquake-resistant devices have been installed as standard, and performance has been improved in terms of both accuracy and practicality.
It is also an easy-to-maintain movement, making it easy to use.
Size: height: 40.8mm , width: 35.4mm , thickness: 9.3mm , weight: 31g .
At the time, thin models were the norm, so the thickness was less than 1cm .
While it gives the appearance of volume, it is lightweight and does not easily get caught on the hem of a suit or jacket, so you can wear it without stress.
The aged gold blends well with the skin, making the color more vibrant when worn with a suit or jacket, which tend to be dark in color.
The condition is good with no peeling plating or noticeable scratches on the case.
The dial is in excellent condition with no signs of corrosion.
The movement is stable and there is no sign of rust.

When selling antique watches at RESUME, we do not immediately hand them over to you when you place your order. Instead, we ask a professional craftsman to overhaul them (hereafter referred to as OH) and deliver them to you after the OH is completed. (This takes about 1 to 2 months.)
A professional craftsman with first-class watch repair technician qualifications will completely disassemble your watch, replace worn parts such as the internal gaskets, clean it, oil it, and perform a thorough overhaul, maintaining it to a daily accuracy of about ±1 minute.
When we deliver the machine, we will also send you our own overhaul certificate, which shows what kind of overhaul was performed, as well as photos of the machine being disassembled and maintained.
