Introducing the 1965 Seiko "Matic Weekdater."

The Seiko Matic Weekdater is a model with a date and day display, born in the 1960s as Seiko sought to improve the practicality of automatic watches.

The Seiko Matic is one of Seiko's representative automatic watch series, evolving from the Self-dater with a date display to the Weekdater, which further added a day display.

At the time, the ability to check both the date and day on a wristwatch was not yet common, making it a significant enhancement to its convenience as an everyday tool.

■Dial and Case Design

The dial is a silver dial with fine vertical hairline finishing.

Rather than a strong gloss finish, the fine lines bring out a metallic texture, giving the simple dial a calm appearance.

The "SEIKO" and "Weekdater" logos are placed at the 12 o'clock position.
At the 6 o'clock position, the cursive "Seikomatic" and "DIASHOCK 35 JEWELS" inscriptions are present, conveying the elegant and practical presence characteristic of Seiko at the time.

The date display is at the 3 o'clock position, and the day display is at the 9 o'clock position.
Unlike typical day-date displays, the layout with the calendar split to the left and right is a major distinctive feature of the Seiko Matic Weekdater.

The indices are three-dimensional applied bar indices.
The slightly raised center creates linear shadows depending on the angle of light, adding subtle depth to the simple dial.

The hands are sharp dolphin hands.
They harmonize well with the clean dial design, creating an elegant atmosphere characteristic of Seiko in the 1960s.

The case is a stainless steel round case.
Combining a thin bezel with slightly wider lugs, it creates a substantial presence on the wrist despite being a classic round case.

The lugs have a sharp, linear form, and together with the case side lines, they achieve a balance of practicality and design typical of Seiko in the mid-1960s.

■Movement

The movement is an automatic Cal.6218A.

It is a 35-jewel automatic movement specifically for the Seiko Matic Weekdater, equipped with date and day displays.

The rotor bears the "SEIKO" and "35 JEWELS" engravings, indicating that Seiko at the time manufactured with both practicality and luxury in mind.

The unique calendar display with the date at 3 o'clock and the day at 9 o'clock on the dial is also a characteristic feature of models equipped with this movement.

Typical of Seiko automatic watches from the mid-1960s, this movement is well-crafted and solidly equipped with the functions necessary for daily use.

■Styling

Case size: Length 43.3mm (including lugs) / Width 36.9mm (including crown) / Thickness 11.6mm / Weight 53g

The elegant design, combining a silver dial with vertical hairline finishing and a stainless steel case, pairs well with formal attire such as shirts and jackets.

When paired with a black leather strap, the dial's subdued atmosphere is enhanced, blending naturally with suits.

On the other hand, the date display at 3 o'clock and the day display at 9 o'clock serve as a nice accent, making it easy to incorporate into casual outfits like sweaters, cardigans, and denim.

With its unique individuality characteristic of the Seiko Matic Weekdater within a simple design, it can be worn for a wide range of occasions, from everyday use to slightly more formal settings.

■Condition

Regarding the condition, there are minor scratches on the case from use, but there are no noticeable dents or major damage, maintaining a good condition considering its age.

The crystal was replaced with an original dead stock crystal upon arrival.

The dial, hands, and indices are also in good condition, allowing you to fully appreciate the elegant appearance of the silver dial.

The movement will also be delivered after maintenance by us, so you can use it with peace of mind.

●Important information after purchasing antique watches. Please read carefully.●

At RESUME, when selling antique watches, we do not deliver them immediately upon order.
Instead, we request an overhaul (hereinafter "OH") from a specialized craftsman, and deliver the watch after the OH is completed. (This takes approximately 1-2 months.)

A specialized craftsman with a Grade 1 watch repair technician qualification will completely disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts such as internal gaskets, clean it, lubricate it,
and perform a thorough OH, maintaining an accuracy of about ±1 minute per day.
When delivering, we will also send our unique OH certificate, which explains what kind of work was done during the OH, as well as photos of the movement disassembly and maintenance.

Of course, due to the nature of the product being used, there is no absolute guarantee that it will not break, but we take this approach so that you can enjoy the original performance of the watch
and use it with peace of mind in the future. We appreciate your understanding.

When purchasing a product, a 1-year warranty period is provided depending on the model. Even for products past their warranty period, repairs are accepted for a fee.
