Introducing the Seiko "Lord Matic," produced in 1969.
The Seiko Lord Matic was introduced in 1968.
In the 1969 catalog, it was presented as a model for business professionals on the front lines.
With its thin case and the practicality of an automatic movement, it was developed as a watch to support daily professional life.
The 56-series movement equipped in this model was subsequently adopted for King Seiko and Grand Seiko models, spreading to become one of the representative mechanical movement families for Seiko at the time.
■ Dial & Case Design
Features a dignified look with a silver dial featuring fine vertical hairline finishing and three-dimensional bar indices.
The unique dial layout of this specific piece adds a distinctive touch.
The SEIKO logo is placed on the left side of the dial rather than at 12 o'clock, with a window below displaying the day of the week in Kanji (e.g., "Tuesday").
On the right, there is a date window and the text "LORD MATIC 23 JEWELS," with the LM logo at the 6 o'clock position.
This split display and logo arrangement gives it a look that stands out from typical three-hand watches.
The wide pencil hands and applied indices, which change expression as they catch the light, stand out beautifully against the hairline dial.
Encasing the circular dial is a tonneau-shaped case typical of the Ref. 5606-7050.
The flared form extending from the case to the lugs, combined with the contrast between hairline-finished surfaces and polished edges, provides a powerful outline to the clean dial.
The case back features an "OPEN THRU GLASS" engraving, characterizing this as a "monocoque" (one-piece) case that is accessed through the crystal side.
■ Movement
The watch is equipped with the automatic Cal. 5606 movement. It features 23 jewels, as noted on the dial, and beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour.
In addition to automatic winding, it supports manual winding and includes a hacking (stop-second) feature for precision time setting.
A highlight of this movement is the quick-set mechanism for the date and day via the crown.
Designed to allow adjustment of the date and day directly using the crown, rather than having to wind the time forward through many cycles.
Even in catalogs from that era, the quick-set date and day functionality was highlighted as a key feature of the Lord Matic.
■ Styling
Case size: Height 40.2mm (including lugs) / Width 36.2mm (including crown) / Thickness 9.1mm / Weight 42g (including strap)
A timepiece defined by its vertically brushed silver dial and distinct tonneau-shaped case.
The black leather strap tightens the brightness of the dial, bringing a composed balance to the overall look.
Pair it with a navy or charcoal jacket and a white shirt to add a subtle, sophisticated character to your attire.
On your days off, it works well with knits or simple cut-and-sew tops, allowing you to appreciate the fine dial finishing and unique display layout within a basic outfit.

● Please be sure to read the following information regarding the purchase of our vintage watches ●
At RESUME, we do not hand over our vintage watches immediately upon ordering. Instead, we commission a specialized professional to perform an overhaul (OH). Shipping will occur after the OH is complete (approx. 1–2 months).
A professional technician with a 1st-grade watch repair certification will fully disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts such as internal gaskets, clean the components, apply lubricant, and perform a thorough overhaul to ensure the watch runs within an accuracy of approximately ±1 minute per day.
Upon delivery, we will include our proprietary OH certificate and photos taken during the disassembly and maintenance process to show exactly what work was performed.
Given the nature of these products being vintage items, we cannot guarantee they will never break, but we take these steps to ensure you can enjoy the original performance of the watch and use it with peace of mind for years to come. Thank you for your understanding.
A one-year warranty is provided for all purchases, depending on the model. Even after the warranty period expires, we are happy to provide repair services for a fee. If you do not have a repair shop nearby, please feel free to contact us.
