Introducing the 1969 Seiko "Matic Lady".
In the late 1960s, Japanese watches saw significant advancements in both practicality and design.
While automatic movements became widespread, primarily in men's models, Seiko also began developing automatic watches for women that were easy for daily use.
The "Matic Lady" introduced here is, as its name suggests, an automatic model designed for women.
Despite its small case size, it is equipped with the automatic Cal.2517B movement.
At a time when most ladies' watches were hand-wound, the inclusion of an automatic movement that winds itself with the motion of the arm was a significant feature.
This Seiko ladies' model emphasizes natural everyday usability rather than overt glamour, which is characteristic of the brand.
■Dial and Case Design
The dial is a bright silver.
It features a fine radial sunray finish from the center outwards, which subtly changes its expression depending on how the light hits it.
The indexes are thick, applied bar indexes.
Despite being a small ladies' watch, the three-dimensional indexes make the entire dial appear sharp.
The hands are simple dolphin hands.
They blend naturally with the silver dial while maintaining a clean impression.
The case has a distinctive shape, with angular exterior design combined around a round dial.
While the bezel area is rounded, the outer edge of the case and the lugs feature linear facets, allowing for a three-dimensional appearance when viewed from the front.
Despite its small size, the case sides and lugs are well-crafted, resulting in a balanced look that is not overly delicate.
This watch possesses an elegance characteristic of a ladies' model, while also showcasing Seiko's refined case design from that era.
■Movement
Equipped with the automatic Cal.2517B movement.
This 17-jewel automatic movement is housed in a small ladies' model.
It is a practical mechanism that automatically winds the mainspring with the movement of the arm, allowing it to run naturally with daily wear.
■Styling
Case size: Length 28.6mm (including lugs) / Width 24.9mm (including crown) / Thickness 10.2mm / Weight 22g
The combination of the bright silver dial and stainless steel case makes this a versatile watch that suits any outfit.
Paired with shirts, blouses, or jacket styles, its small case size fits naturally under the cuff, creating a refined impression.
As it is predominantly silver, it pairs well with accessories, and combining it with rings or bracelets will not make it appear overly bold.
For a casual look, it is also recommended with knitwear, cardigans, or denim.
Despite its modest size, the sunray-finished dial and three-dimensional indexes catch the light, adding a subtle presence to your wrist.
With its understated design, it is a ladies' watch that can be naturally incorporated into everyday life.
■Condition
The overall condition is good.
The case shows minor scratches from use, but no noticeable major damage, maintaining a clean appearance for a vintage watch.
The dial also shows no significant deterioration, and is in a condition where you can fully appreciate the bright silver dial.
The crystal shows no major scratches that would impair visibility.
The movement is currently running well.
Considering its age, the overall balance is good, making it a watch that can be easily incorporated into daily use.

●Important information regarding antique watch purchases - please read carefully●
At RESUME, when selling antique watches, we do not deliver them immediately upon order. Instead, we request an overhaul (OH) by a specialized craftsman, and deliver the watch after the OH is complete (this takes approximately 1-2 months).
A specialist craftsman with a Class 1 watch repair technician qualification will completely disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts such as internal gaskets, clean, lubricate, and thoroughly overhaul it, adjusting it to within a daily rate of ±1 minute.
Upon delivery, we will also send our unique OH certificate and photos of the movement disassembly and maintenance, detailing the work performed during the OH.
Of course, due to the nature of pre-owned products, there is no guarantee that the watch will never break. However, to ensure that you can enjoy the watch's original performance and use it with peace of mind in the future, we have adopted this policy. We appreciate your understanding.
When purchasing a product, we offer a 1-year warranty period depending on the model. Even for products whose warranty period has expired, we offer repair services for a fee.
Please feel free to consult us even if you do not have a repair shop nearby.
