Introducing the 1971 Seiko "5 Sports Speed-Timer."

From the late 1960s to the 1970s, the automatization of chronographs was a major theme in the watch industry.

Seiko released its automatic chronograph in 1969, and subsequently developed the Speed-Timer as a sports model throughout the 1970s.

The Speed-Timer is one of Seiko's representative chronograph series from that era, characterized by a highly legible dial and a sporty case design.

With a design that prioritized practicality and a powerful 1970s aesthetic, it continues to be highly popular among vintage Seiko collectors today.

■Dial and Case Design

The dial features a deep navy color.

It changes from a deep blue to a slightly brighter blue tone depending on the light, giving it a calm feel within its sporty design.

The indices are slender applied bar indices.
Paired with sharp hands, they ensure high legibility while maintaining a clean look.

The vivid orange chronograph seconds hand and "Speed-Timer" logo are iconic details of this model.
The contrast with the navy dial is beautiful, creating a sporty and distinctive 1970s personality.

The crystal is a genuine deadstock glass crystal.
You can enjoy clear legibility without compromising the original atmosphere.

The case is a rounded cushion-shaped case.

Its streamlined form combined with a hairline finish gives it a powerful presence typical of 1970s sports watches.

The bracelet is an original genuine stainless steel bracelet from the time.
The integrated design, where the case seamlessly connects to the bracelet, is one of the unique charms of the Speed-Timer.

■Movement

The movement is the automatic chronograph movement "Cal.7017A."

Cal.7017A is a chronograph movement used in Seiko 5 Sports Speed-Timers and other models of the 1970s.

It features a simple structure without 30-minute or 12-hour totalizers, designed to read elapsed time using the center chronograph hand.

The automatic winding mechanism employs Seiko's unique "Magic Lever" winding system.
It is a highly practical movement that efficiently winds the mainspring during daily use.

■Styling

The case size is: length 43mm (including lugs) / width 41.2mm (including crown) / thickness 13.2mm / weight 111g (including band).

The combination of the navy dial and stainless steel case pairs well with casual attire.

Even with a simple style such as a white T-shirt or Oxford shirt paired with jeans or chinos, it adds a subtle presence to your wrist.

It also complements jacket styles based on navy or gray.
Despite its sporty design, its subdued color scheme allows it to blend naturally without being overly assertive.

The combination with the genuine stainless steel bracelet is one of the charms unique to 1970s sports watches.
It's a piece that allows you to enjoy the atmosphere of a vintage watch while easily incorporating it into your daily life.

■Condition

The case shows minor scratches due to age, but it remains in good condition considering its vintage.

The dial shows no major noticeable damage, allowing you to enjoy the deep color unique to the navy dial.

The crystal is a genuine deadstock glass crystal, offering clear legibility.

Additionally, it is fitted with the original genuine stainless steel bracelet.

Please note that the watch has been overhauled by our affiliated workshop, so you can use it with confidence after purchase.

●Important information after purchasing an antique watch, please read carefully●

At RESUME, when selling antique watches, we do not hand them over immediately after receiving your order.
Instead, we request an overhaul (hereinafter referred to as OH) from a specialized craftsman, and deliver the watch after the OH is completed. (This takes approximately 1-2 months)

A specialized craftsman with a Level 1 watch repair technician qualification will completely disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts such as internal gaskets, clean, lubricate,
and perform a thorough OH to bring the watch to a state with a daily variation of about ±1 minute.
When we deliver the watch, we will also send our original OH certificate, which details the work performed during the OH, along with photos of the movement's disassembly and maintenance.

Of course, due to the nature of used products, there is no guarantee that the watch will never break, but we take these measures to ensure that you can enjoy the watch's original performance
and use it with confidence in the future. We appreciate your understanding.

For product purchases, we offer a 1-year warranty period depending on the model. Even for products past this period, we offer repair services for a fee.
