SEIKO 72's 5 SPORTS Speed-Timer Cal.6139B
SEIKO 72's 5 SPORTS Speed-Timer Cal.6139B
Introducing the Seiko " 5 Sports Speed Timer" made in 1972 .
The Speed Timer was released by Seiko in 1969 as the world's first chronograph (stopwatch) wristwatch with an automatic winding mechanism.
At that time, chronographs had very complex structures and were produced in small numbers, so they were only available in hand-wound, high-end models.
However, the Cal. 6139 developed by Seiko uses the Magic Lever, which improves productivity by simplifying the manufacturing process as much as possible while maintaining excellent winding efficiency and precision.
At the same time, we have succeeded in significantly reducing costs.
It was also launched in the " 5 Sports" line for young people, and became a huge hit thanks to its casual design and reasonable price.
This speed timer features an attractive 30 -minute counter at the 6 o'clock position, a yellow chronograph hand and a pop, sporty design reminiscent of the 1970s .
This is a chronograph model with one counter, commonly known as the "one-eyed chronograph."
Pressing the push button at the 2 o'clock position activates the central chronograph hand, and the subdial hand moves every minute, allowing you to measure 30 minutes.
The dial is a vibrant green that will catch your eye.
The yellow hand in the center is not a seconds hand, but a chronograph hand that operates when the chronograph is in operation, a feature that is only seen on chronographs.
The inner bezel on the outer periphery has numbers engraved in countdown format, designed to make it easy to see when the chronograph hand moves.
In addition, the inner bezel can be moved to any position by operating the crown at the 3 o'clock position.
With its sporty, mechanical design, the Speed Timer is a watch that teaches its owner the joy and fun of "operating a watch."
The movement is a 21 -jewel automatic, Cal. 6139B .
This highly practical movement employs Seiko's unique automatic winding mechanism, the Magic Lever system, and boasts high winding efficiency and precision.
The calendar is available in two languages, English and Japanese, and the date and day of the week can be quickly changed by turning the crown.
The chronograph can be operated by using the crowns at the 14 o'clock and 16 o'clock positions and can measure 30 minutes.
Size: height: 44 mm , width: 41.7 mm , thickness: 14 mm , weight: 108 g .
It is larger than a three- hand watch, but that makes it even more impressive when worn.
The sporty design goes well with shirts, sweatshirts, denim items, as well as military items and high-tech wear, making it suitable for a wide range of outfits.
The condition is that the case has a linear scratch at the 11 o'clock position, but there is no other noticeable damage.
The dial is in good condition with no wear or corrosion.
The movement runs smoothly and there are no problems.
The chronograph and calendar functions are also working fine.
The metal bracelet attached is an aftermarket product.

When selling antique watches at RESUME, we do not immediately hand them over to you when you place your order. Instead, we ask a professional craftsman to overhaul them (hereafter referred to as OH) and deliver them to you after the OH is completed. (This takes about 1 to 2 months.)
A professional craftsman with first-class watch repair technician qualifications will completely disassemble your watch, replace worn parts such as the internal gaskets, clean it, oil it, and perform a thorough overhaul, maintaining it to a daily accuracy of about ±1 minute.
When we deliver the machine, we will also send you our own overhaul certificate, which shows what kind of overhaul was performed, as well as photos of the machine being disassembled and maintained.
Of course, due to the nature of the product itself being a second-hand item, there is no guarantee that it will never break, but we ask for your understanding that we take this approach so that you can enjoy the original performance of the watch and use it with peace of mind in the future.
