Introducing the 1972 Seiko "56 Grand Seiko."
Grand Seiko was launched in 1960 with the ambition of creating "a high-precision, high-quality watch that can compete on the world stage."
Since then, it has continued to pursue precision while responding to the evolving demands for wristwatches over the decades.
The 56GS, introduced in 1970, was a series born in an era when watches that were lighter, thinner, smaller, and easier to use were in demand.
It achieved a slim profile while maintaining high-precision automatic movement, finished in a clean design that rests lightly on the wrist.
■ Dial & Case Design
The deep green dial features an impressive gradient that brightens toward the center, with darker tones spreading toward the periphery.
A delicate vertical brush finish catches the light, giving the dial different expressions depending on the viewing angle.
Three-dimensional bar indices and slender hands tapering at the tips enhance its refined look, while the inner dot minute track provides a cohesive finish. It features a day-date display at the 3 o'clock position.
The faceted glass crystal covering the dial is another highlight of this model.
The multi-faceted glass reflects light from various angles, accentuating the green dial and the sharp lines of the case.
The design combines a rounded bezel with an angular case and wide lugs.
It features a form that utilizes flat surfaces, following in the tradition of the Seiko Style. The interplay between mirror-polished and brushed surfaces highlights the contours, resonating with the brilliance of the faceted glass. The GS logo on the crown is a detail that reflects the meticulous attention paid to even the smallest elements.
■ Movement

The movement is equipped with the automatic Cal. 5646A, a high-beat movement with 28,800 vibrations per hour and 25 jewels.
It includes a day-date function, reflecting the characteristic focus of the 56GS on high precision as a mechanical timepiece.
■ Styling
Case size: Length 40.9mm (including lugs) / Width 37.3mm (including crown) / Thickness 12.4mm / Weight 50g (including strap)
The deep green dial and brown embossed strap add a calm color accent to your attire.
Pair it with a navy jacket, an ecru shirt or knit, and greige slacks to let the green of the dial subtly stand out, while the brown of the strap blends in naturally.
This piece is easy to pair not only with jacket styles but also with casual holiday outfits centered around knits or shirts, adding a vintage elegance to your wrist.

● Important Information Regarding Antique Watch Purchases ●
At RESUME, when selling antique watches, we do not ship immediately upon order. Instead, we commission a professional craftsman to perform an overhaul (OH), and the watch will be shipped after the overhaul is complete (approx. 1–2 months).
A certified first-class watch repair technician will completely disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts such as internal gaskets, clean and lubricate it, and ensure it is serviced to maintain a daily accuracy of within ±1 minute.
Upon delivery, we will include our original OH certificate, which details the work performed, along with photos of the watch disassembled during the maintenance process.
While these are pre-owned items and we cannot guarantee that they will never break, we take these steps to ensure you can enjoy the original performance of the timepiece and use it with peace of mind.
We offer a 1-year warranty period for our products depending on the model. Even after the period expires, we are happy to provide repair services for a fee. Please feel free to consult us even if there is no repair shop nearby.
