Introducing the 1972 Seiko Advan.

The Seiko Advan is an automatic winding model released in the early 1970s.

At that time, Seiko produced highly precise mechanical watches, epitomized by Grand Seiko and King Seiko, while also developing many models with unique designs.

Among them, the Advan series is appealing for its bold 1970s design, featuring vivid colors, three-dimensional dials, and distinctive case designs.

■Dial and Case Design

The dial is a deep blue.
It has a finish that spreads light from the center outwards, creating varying shades depending on the angle, giving it the impressive look characteristic of 1970s Advans.

A major feature of this model is the monthly calendar display on the outer circumference of the dial.

By combining the day of the week notation on the outer circumference and the date display on the inner part, and rotating the inner bezel with the crown at 2 o'clock, you can check the relationship between the date and day of the week for that month.

A standard day and date display is also located at 3 o'clock.
In addition to the daily calendar function, the monthly calendar display across the entire dial is a detail characteristic of the Advan, incorporating the function itself as part of the design.

At the 6 o'clock position, there is a sun-like logo symbolizing the Advan.
Although its precise origin is unknown, this detail, along with its vivid colors and unique dial composition, reflects the free design sensibility characteristic of Seiko in the 1970s.

The case is a stainless steel tonneau shape.
Combining a rounded bezel with sharp case lines creates a sporty and powerful impression.

This particular Advan is especially distinctive, as it places the calendar function at the heart of its dial design, rather than simply displaying the time and date.

■Movement

The movement is Seiko's automatic winding movement, the "Cal.7019A."

The Cal.7019A is one of Seiko's automatic winding movements from the 1970s, a highly practical mechanism equipped with day and date display.

It is suitable for daily use as the mainspring winds automatically when worn on the wrist.

This easy-to-handle automatic winding movement supports the practicality characteristic of Seiko in the 1970s.

■Styling

Case size: Length 41.2mm (incl. lugs) / Width 40.6mm (incl. crown) / Thickness 11.8mm / Weight 99g

The distinctive blue-based dial provides a suitable accent to simple outfits.

For a casual look, it pairs well with relaxed styles like white T-shirts, sweatshirts, and denim.

Since the dial uses blue, black, and white, it naturally blends with calm colored clothing such as navy, gray, and black.

The case has a comfortable volume, and when seen from a cuff, it has the characteristic presence of a 1970s Advan.

This is a piece to be enjoyed for its design in a casual style rather than paired with formal attire.

■Condition

In terms of condition, there are minor scratches on the case from use, but no noticeable damage.

The dial, hands, and inner bezel show no significant deterioration that would detract from their appearance, maintaining a condition that allows full enjoyment of the Advan's unique design.

The crystal was replaced with a genuine deadstock glass crystal during the initial check.

This ensures clear legibility without compromising the original atmosphere.

The movement has also been checked for operation and is in a condition suitable for daily use.

Fitted with an aftermarket metal bracelet.

●Important information regarding antique watch purchases, please be sure to read●

At RESUME, when selling antique watches, we do not immediately hand them over after an order is placed. Instead, we request a complete overhaul (hereinafter referred to as OH) from a specialized craftsman, and deliver the watch after the OH is completed. (This usually takes about 1-2 months).

A specialized craftsman, qualified as a Level 1 watch repair technician, will completely disassemble the watch, replace worn parts such as internal gaskets, clean, lubricate, and thoroughly overhaul it, adjusting it to an accuracy of approximately ±1 minute per day.
Upon delivery, we will also provide our unique OH certificate, explaining the work performed during the overhaul, along with photos of the movement disassembly and maintenance.

Of course, due to the nature of used products, there is no absolute guarantee that the watch will never break. However, we take these measures to ensure that you can enjoy the watch's original performance and use it with peace of mind in the future. We appreciate your understanding.

When purchasing a product, a 1-year warranty period is provided depending on the model. Even for products whose warranty period has expired, we offer repair services, although a fee will apply. If you do not have a repair shop nearby, please feel free to contact us.
