SEIKO 73's BELL - MATIC Cal.4006A
SEIKO 73's BELL - MATIC Cal.4006A
Introducing the Seiko "Bellmatic" made in 1973 .
The Bellmatic, released in 1967 , was Seiko's first alarm watch.
The first domestically produced alarm watch had already been released by Citizen in 1958 , but the "Bellmatic" was the first domestically produced model with an automatic winding mechanism.
Alarm watches require winding a mainspring to power them and a mainspring to activate the alarm, and if they have an automatic winding mechanism, even more powerful winding is required.
The fact that they had to produce a difficult movement shows the high level of Seiko's technological capabilities at the time.
The "Velmatic" was highly popular among business people and was a long-selling model that was sold from 1967 to around 1980 .
Seiko's "Bellmatic" was the first alarm watch made in Japan to feature an automatic winding mechanism.
The dial is a luxurious sunburst silver dial.
It is designed with the outside one level lower, and the center is raised, giving it a three-dimensional appearance.
The hands and indexes are configured as dolphin hands and upright bar indexes.
The bold face design, which emphasizes visibility, is typical of Seiko, and is very attractive.
The black triangle on the inner bezel is a sign to indicate the time the alarm will sound.
With the crown at the 14 o'clock position pulled out to the first notch, the alarm will sound when the hour hand reaches the triangle position.
Of course, you can turn the alarm on and off as you like.
The alarm sound is a little quieter than other brands, but the soft tone is appealing.
The soft tone that emanates from the Bellmatic's honest atmosphere that emphasizes practicality continues to captivate the hearts of many watch fans today.
The movement is a 27 -jewel automatic, Cal. 4006A .
In addition to the alarm function, this model is designed with practicality in mind, with automatic winding and calendar functions.
This movement was used by many business people at the time, which shows its excellent precision and durability.
Size: height: 42.6mm , width: 40.3mm , thickness: 13.6mm , weight: 93g .
At first glance the design appears heavy, but it fits very well when worn and the weight isn't too noticeable.
Since it was a business model at the time, it goes well with suits and jackets, of course, but it can also be combined with casual styles such as shirts and denim jackets.
The condition of the case is good with no noticeable scratches and the edges are well preserved.
The dial is in beautiful condition, just as it was at the time, with no stains or wear.
The movement is running smoothly and all functions such as the alarm work without any problems.
It is equipped with a genuine Seiko metal bracelet.
