Here is a Cartier "Must Tank" from the 1970s-1980s.

Designed by Louis Cartier in 1917, the "Tank" is a representative Cartier watch.

The linear case design, said to be inspired by WWI tanks, possesses a refined beauty characteristic of Cartier while being understated.

The vertical lines running along both sides of the case are called "brancards" and have been a symbolic design element of the Tank to this day.

This is a Must de Cartier Tank from the 1970s-1980s.
The Must de Cartier series, introduced in 1977, expanded the world of Cartier watches beyond precious metal cases to something more accessible for everyday wear.

■Dial and Case Design

The dial is a glossy black.

It features a minimalist composition without indexes or minute markers, with a sheen appearing on the black surface when it catches the light.
The "must de Cartier" logo is placed at 12 o'clock, and Cartier's iconic double C logo is at 6 o'clock.
It is a clean design consisting only of the logos and hands.

The hands are gold-colored, two-hand specification.
The slender hands stand out against the glossy black dial, enhancing the Tank's refined atmosphere.

The case is the iconic elongated rectangular Tank case.
The brancards on both sides emphasize the overall lines of the case, creating a soft form that is linear yet rounded at the corners.

The material is a vermeil case, sterling silver plated with gold.
The engravings "ARGENT" and "PLAQUE OR G 20M" can be seen on the back cover, which is a characteristic of Must de Cartier.

The crown is set with a blue cabochon.
A cabochon is a gemstone or ornamental stone polished to a smooth, rounded shape, and it is a symbolic detail often seen in Cartier watches.
It serves as a subtle yet striking accent against the black dial and gold-colored case.

■Movement

The movement is a manual-winding Cal.78-1.

This is a Cartier-branded movement based on ETA 2512-1, found in Must Tank models from the 1970s-1980s.
It is a small manual-winding movement with 17 jewels and 21,600 vibrations/hour, designed to fit well in the slim Tank case.

■Styling

Length 30.6mm (including lugs) / Width 26mm (including crown) / Thickness 5.7mm / Weight 22g (including strap)

The glossy black dial and gold-colored case add a calm and dignified feel to your wrist.

When paired with a simple shirt or knit, the linear form of the Tank becomes an accent to your outfit and blends naturally with your everyday attire.
It pairs particularly well with clothing in subdued colors such as black, navy, and gray, adding a classic touch to your wrist.

It is also a watch that can be easily matched with formal wear such as jackets or dresses.
With its understated dial and linear case design, it avoids being overly flashy, allowing you to enjoy the Cartier aesthetic in your daily life.

■Condition

Regarding the condition, there are small scratches and slight signs of use on the case, but these are within the normal range for a vintage watch.

Some areas of the gold plating may show slight rubbing due to age, but this does not significantly detract from the overall appearance.

There are slight cracks on the dial, but the glossy black color remains intact and is hardly noticeable when worn.
The condition of the logo and hands is also good, allowing you to fully enjoy the appearance of the glossy black dial.

The movement is currently operating normally.
After purchase, we will perform maintenance before delivery.

●Guidance after purchasing an antique watch, please read carefully●

At RESUME, when selling antique watches, we do not hand them over immediately after your order.
Instead, we request a complete overhaul (hereinafter OH) from a specialized craftsman, and deliver the watch after the OH is completed. (This typically takes about 1 to 2 months.)

A professional craftsman with a Class 1 Watch Repair Technician qualification will completely disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts such as internal gaskets, clean, and lubricate it.
We will thoroughly OH the watch and maintain it to a daily rate of approximately ±1 minute.
Additionally, when delivering the watch, we will send our unique OH certificate, outlining the work performed during the OH, along with photographs of the machine's disassembly and maintenance.

Of course, due to the nature of the product being used, there is no guarantee that it will never break, but we take these measures to ensure you can enjoy the watch's original performance and use it with peace of mind in the future, so we ask for your understanding.

When purchasing a product, a 1-year warranty period is provided depending on the model. Even for products whose warranty period has expired, we offer repair services for a fee.
If you do not have a repair shop nearby, please feel free to contact us.
