CITIZEN 50's CENTER SECOND
CITIZEN 50's CENTER SECOND
Introducing the Citizen ``Center Second'' in the 1950s .
Citizen has a strong commitment to technology, but they also have a unique story in the way they advertise their watches.
When conducting a public experiment of the first domestically produced shock-resistant function "Parashock", we conducted a public experiment in which 10 Parashocks loaded on a helicopter were dropped from 30 meters to test their shock-resistant performance. The first self-winding waterproof watch, ``Parawater'', was tested by attaching a buoy to the watch and letting it float into the ocean.
At that time, the brand has promoted itself in a truly unique way, including a letter written by Japanese children to Americans and presented as a gift to the person who found it, demonstrating its functionality while also contributing to society. is.
Although it is small, the center seconds dial with its gold-plated case and classically designed dial catches the eye.
Centered seconds means that the second hand is mounted in the center.
This is commonplace now, but until then, many watches had a second hand at the 6 o'clock position, and it was said to be difficult to wear them at the 12 o'clock position due to structural reasons.
However, Citizen, which aims to bring its technology to international standards, succeeded in developing this watch, and the fact that it has its name engraved at the 6 o'clock position instead of a hand shows how confident it is in this watch.
The design is also high, with a gold line drawn around the center of the dial on the special shaped index.
By using a two-tone color scheme with slightly different colors in the center and outer periphery, the color brings out the gold hands, giving them a three-dimensional appearance.
The surface of the case is plated with 14- karat gold, which brings the design together and gives it a luxurious feel.
The movement is a hand-wound type with 11 jewels.
"Honchu three-hand" model with the second hand mounted in the center.
If the hands were mounted in the center, the mechanism would inevitably become thicker, but the thickness of this movement, including the case, is only 9.4 mm .
Even at a time when thin three-hand watches were the mainstream, this was an amazing piece of technology.
Size: Height: 36.7mm , Width: 31.4mm , Thickness: 9.4mm .
It's a boy's size, so it's easy to wear for women and people with thin wrists.
Although the size is small, the gold color makes it a gorgeous addition to your wrist.
There are some small scratches on the case, but the dial is free of corrosion and the movement works fine.
Overall condition is good.
A center second that combines technology and design at a high level.
This is a watch that shows Citizen's passion for creating world-class watches at the time.
