CITIZEN 65's Alarm Date 4H
CITIZEN 65's Alarm Date 4H
Introducing the 1965 Citizen "Alarm Date 4H ".
Named "Citizen" with the hope that the company would be loved by the citizens, the company developed a series of watches that actively incorporated cutting-edge technology, such as the "Parashock," the first Japanese-made watch to feature an earthquake-resistant device, and the "Parawater," the first Japanese-made automatic, completely waterproof watch.
In 1958 , the company began selling the first domestically made alarm clock, called the "bell-ringing wristwatch," and has since led the Japanese watch industry.
Its technical capabilities are recognized worldwide, and Citizen is now a watchmaker trusted by citizens around the world.
The Citizen "Alarm Date 4H " we are introducing this time is the second generation model in which the alarm setting has been changed from a disk type to a needle type.
The pet name " 4H (Four Hands)" refers to the four hands: hour, minute, second, and alarm.
Since it has more hands than the three- hand type, there is a difference in height between the dials, which gives the design a more three-dimensional feel.
The black dial is understated yet has an elegant sheen.
The indexes and hands are silver upright bar indexes with dolphin hands.
The triangular marker on the alarm hand is a nice feature.
The two crowns at the 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock positions are a unique feature of an alarm watch; the crown at the 2 o'clock position is used to operate the alarm, and the crown at the 4 o'clock position is used to operate the watch.
This makes it a rare watch with two mainsprings inside the body.
The back cover is a snapback type, but it boasts high water resistance because it uses a highly waterproof "Parawater" case.
This watch was made for businessmen at the time, so it is an "Alarm Date 4H " that has an alarm function but also excels in design, durability, and practicality.
The movement is a hand-wound movement with 21 jewels.
When the alarm time arrives, a hammer built into the movement strikes the back cover to tell the time, producing a unique "jijijiji" sound that is reminiscent of the chirping of cicadas.
Since it is a hand-wound type, it boasts stable operation even though it is equipped with an alarm function.
Size: height: 45.8mm , width: 41.2mm , thickness: 12.1mm , weight: 57g .
The large size and heavy design give it a strong presence when worn.
The simple black and silver coloring is designed to be easily incorporated into a variety of outfits, from office to casual.
Replacing the black belt with a brown one will give it a more casual look, so it would go well with denim and a leather jacket.
The condition of the case is excellent, with only minor scratches from use and no other noticeable scratches.
The dial has some damage above the date and around the 9 o'clock and 5 o'clock positions, but it is not particularly noticeable and does not affect visibility.
The movement is in good condition with no rust and runs smoothly.
The alarm function also works without any problems.
