Introducing the Eterna "KonTiki" from the 1960s.

In 1947, Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl embarked on a voyage on the balsa wood raft "Kon-Tiki" from Peru in South America, aiming for Polynesia.
This expedition, which crossed the Pacific Ocean in 101 days, later brought widespread recognition to the name "Kon-Tiki."

Eterna's "KonTiki" is a sports watch named after that expedition.
With the image of a challenging voyage as its backdrop, it was developed as a wristwatch emphasizing water resistance and practicality, becoming one of Eterna's flagship series.

■ Dial and Case Design

The dial is a silver dial that has taken on a beige color due to aging.

Fine radial finishing extends from the center to the outer edge, giving it a soft sheen that varies with the angle of light.
The color change due to aging adds a calm, vintage-like expression despite its brightness.

The indices are thick, applied bar indices.
While simple bar shapes, their three-dimensional construction catches the light, providing excellent legibility against the lightly colored dial.
Fine dot minute markers are placed on the outer edge, showcasing the careful details characteristic of the 1960s within a simple composition.

The hands are sharp dauphine hands.
They reflect light due to their faceted design, blending well with the linear indices.
A date display at 3 o'clock adds practicality, making it easy to incorporate into daily use.

The case is a slightly thick stainless steel case.
The bezel is neatly subdued, and the edge rising from the case side to the lugs gives it a robust impression befitting a sports watch.
From the front, it appears as a classic round case, but viewed from an angle, its three-dimensional form stands out even more.

The case back features a medallion depicting the KonTiki raft.
This design symbolizes the Eterna KonTiki and is a significant charm that visually conveys the background of this model as an exploration watch.
While the front maintains the calm practicality of a timepiece, the case back retains the unique narrative of the series.

■ Movement

The watch is equipped with Eterna's automatic movement, Cal.1424UD.

Eterna is known for its "Eterna-matic" automatic winding mechanism, which uses ball bearings for the rotor axle.
The five balls used in the current brand logo are also known as a design element derived from this mechanism.

The Cal.1424UD is an automatic movement that follows the Eterna-matic tradition.
In addition to rotor winding, it features a date function, making it a highly practical movement.

■ Styling

Case size: 44.1mm (length) x 38.6mm (width) x 11.1mm (thickness), Weight: 69g

The combination of the beige-toned dial and stainless steel case makes this a versatile piece that can be worn with everything from casual to smart-casual outfits.

Paired with a white shirt or an Oxford shirt, the soft color of the dial blends in well, allowing you to enjoy the calm, vintage watch atmosphere.
It's also easy to incorporate into a jacket style and is recommended as a subtle accent to your wrist that isn't too formal.

With its KonTiki-like sports watch heritage, it also pairs well with casual attire such as denim, chinos, and military jackets.
Despite its modest size, the edges of the case and the medallion on the case back reveal the unique character of this series.

■ Condition

The case has minor scratches from use but no noticeable damage or scratches.
The dial has changed due to aging, but there are no issues with legibility.
The movement is operating smoothly, and there are no problems with its use.

It is fitted with an Eterna genuine metal bracelet.
