Introducing an International Watch Co. (IWC) "Schaffhausen" from the 1950s.

IWC was founded in 1868 in the northern Swiss town of Schaffhausen by American watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones. It was born from a groundbreaking vision for the time: to combine advanced American production technology with the traditional craftsmanship of Swiss watchmakers.

Based in Schaffhausen, far from the center of the Swiss watch industry, the company utilized the water power of the Rhine River to pursue the manufacturing of precise and highly practical timepieces. This steadfast approach to craftsmanship eventually established itself as the unique tradition of IWC.

■ Dial & Case Design

The softly colored dial features three-dimensional, gold-colored Arabic numerals. Combined with dot-shaped minute markers around the edge and sharp alpha hands, it embodies the classical design characteristic of the 1950s.

The entire dial displays fine aging that has developed over many years. Depending on the angle of light, it may look like a pale champagne color or a subdued ivory, which is a unique feature of this particular piece.

Furthermore, as light hits the surface, the texture of the aging stands out, revealing fine patterns on the dial. The non-uniform color tone and unique texture create the depth that only a vintage watch can offer.

The case features a refined form with a rounded bezel and elegantly tapering lugs. The simple, well-balanced structure enhances the individuality of the dial, creating a clean and sophisticated appearance.

■ Movement

It is equipped with the "Cal. 89" manual-winding movement, designed in 1946 by Albert Pellaton, IWC's technical director. It is one of the movements that defined post-war IWC and was later adopted for the "Mark 11" used by the British Royal Air Force.

It features a low-beat specification of 18,000 vibrations per hour and 17 jewels with a central second hand. It is characterized by its robust, stable design with a large balance wheel and a simple structure that is easy to maintain.

Rather than flashy decoration, the design pursues the inherent performance of a watch, such as precision and durability, truly embodying IWC's practical approach to manufacturing. It remains a legendary movement, highly regarded even today, long after its initial creation.

All watches handled by our shop undergo internal inspection by a professional watch technician upon arrival, and are sold only after being verified as authentic, so you can purchase with confidence.

We will include a brand-new leather strap with your watch purchase.

*For products that come with a genuine watch strap or metal bracelet, the leather strap will not be attached to the watch but will be sent separately as a spare.
A dedicated watch storage case will also be included with your shipment.

● Important Information Regarding Antique Watch Purchases ●

At RESUME, we do not ship antique watches immediately upon order. Instead, we commission a professional specialist to perform an overhaul (OH), and the watch will be shipped after the OH is complete. (Period: approximately 1 to 2 months)

Our certified 1st-class watch technicians will completely disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts such as internal gaskets, clean and lubricate it, and ensure it is regulated to a daily rate of within approximately ±1 minute. Upon delivery, we will provide our original OH certificate, along with photos taken during the disassembly and maintenance process.

Because these are pre-owned vintage products, there is no absolute guarantee that they will never break. However, we take these steps to ensure you can enjoy the watch's original performance and use it with peace of mind in the future. We kindly ask for your understanding.

Depending on the model, we provide a 1-year warranty period upon purchase. Even after the period expires, we are happy to provide repair services (for a fee). If you do not have a repair shop nearby, please feel free to consult with us.
