Introducing the IWC "Yacht Club" made in 1966 .
In the 1960s , the value of watches expanded from being "exclusively dressy" to tough, elegant, practical watches that could be used for leisure and sports.
It was in this context that IWC launched the "Yacht Club."
When it was introduced in 1967 , it was considered, alongside IWC 's first diver's watch, the Aquatimer, to be " reliable on the water, but also suitable for the clubhouse. "
This model is positioned as part of a collection aimed at that intermediate area.
The design is neat and the visibility is clear.
However, the inside is robust, and the IWC- style automatic winding ensures reliability for everyday use.
This combination of elegance and strength is the reason why the Yacht Club has been loved for so long.
■Dial and case design
The Yacht Club features a silver dial that catches the light softly, highlighting the refined look that is characteristic of IWC .
The dial has a minimalist design that makes use of the white space.
Rather than relying on strong decoration, the watch is distinctively IWC , captivating through the texture of its finish and its design.
The three-dimensional bar indexes have black lines running through them, providing a detail that tightens the overall face while improving visibility.
The linear beauty of the hands and indexes, combined with the shadows created by the different angles, gives the watch a deep, yet not flashy, look.
The case is characterized by its design, which is based on the elegance of a round shape, while retaining edges in the lines extending to the lugs.
Rather than being limited to thinness and delicacy, the form retains a core in its contours, giving it a sense of stability and presence when worn on the wrist.
It's not entirely sports-oriented, and it's not entirely dress-oriented.
The most interesting thing about the Yacht Club is the exquisite balance it strikes between these two.
■ Movement
The movement is equipped with the automatic Cal.854 .
This movement, which was introduced in 1964 , is based on the Pellaton winding mechanism, which is symbolic of the company's automatic winding watches, and is designed to be thoroughly refined for reliability and durability in everyday use.
The movement has been made thinner, contributing to the overall balance of the case. Furthermore, the adoption of a hacking mechanism has brought the accuracy of time setting into a practical range.
■Case size
Case size: height: 42.8mm , width: 39mm , thickness: 12.6mm , weight: 50g .
Even if you wear it on a day when you combine a navy jacket with a white shirt, it won't look too stiff, and conversely, even with a casual outfit like a knit and denim, it will make your hands look neat and tidy.
Even with light clothing like a white T- shirt or linen shirt, the subdued luster of the silver dial and the outline of the case create a well-balanced combination.
■ Condition
The condition is good, there is some dirt on the case, but it can be removed by cleaning during maintenance.
There are only minor scratches due to the specifications and no noticeable damage.
The dial remains in beautiful condition with no stains or corrosion.
The movement is running smoothly and can be used without any problems.
It is equipped with an original IWC buckle.
Please be sure to read the following information after purchasing an antique watch.
When selling antique watches at RESUME, we do not immediately hand over the watch to you upon receiving your order. Instead, we have a professional overhaul (hereinafter referred to as OH) the watch, and then we deliver it to you after the OH is completed. (This takes about 1-2 months.)
Our specialized craftsmen, who are first-class watch repair technicians, will completely disassemble your watch, replace worn parts such as internal gaskets, clean it, oil it, and perform a thorough overhaul, maintaining it to a daily accuracy of about ±1 minute.
When we deliver the machine to you, we will also send you our own overhaul certificate, which will show you what kind of overhaul work was done on the machine, as well as photos of the machine being disassembled and serviced.
Of course, since the product itself is a second-hand item, there is no guarantee that it will never break, but we ask for your understanding that we have taken this approach so that you can enjoy the watch's inherent performance and use it with peace of mind in the future.
When you purchase a product, we offer a one-year warranty depending on the model. Even if the warranty period has expired, we will still repair the product, but there will be a fee. Even if there is no repair shop nearby, please feel free to contact us.
