Introducing the Orient "Olympia Orient Swimmer" from the 1960s.
Orient began manufacturing wristwatches in 1950 and changed its company name to "Orient Watch Co., Ltd." the following year in 1951.
During the 1960s, a period when demand for domestic watches grew, the company produced numerous mechanical watches characterized by practicality and uniqueness.
The "Olympia Orient" is one of the representative manual-winding series of the early 1960s.
Developed as a model pursuing practicality, it features not only a refined design but also the adoption of increased jewel counts and shock-protection devices.
The "Swimmer" was the name used to denote Orient's water-resistant specifications at the time.
In an era when water resistance was a special added value, this series enhanced reliability as a practical timepiece.
The yacht design engraved on the case back reflects this concept.
■ Dial & Case Design
The glossy black dial features multi-faceted, three-dimensional bar indices.
A prominent double index is placed at the 12 o'clock position, while the dot-style minute markers on the outer edge add visibility and a vintage flair.
Dauphine hands with luminous material are positioned in the center.
The luminous material, which has aged to a caramel tone, creates a tasteful contrast with the black dial.
The playful layout, featuring "Olympia Orient Swimmer" and "23 Jewels Anti-Shock" written in italics at an angle, is also very striking.
The case features a refined form with a slender bezel and sharply elongated lugs.
Elements typical of the 1960s can be seen throughout, such as the gently domed crystal, the stepped case sides, and the crown embossed with the Orient logo.

Equipped with a 23-jewel manual-winding movement. By using synthetic rubies in areas prone to friction, such as gears and bearings, the design reduces component wear and supports stable operation.
Furthermore, it adopts a shock-protection device to prevent damage to the balance wheel pivot from external impacts.
This design reflects the pursuit of increased jewel counts and practicality in domestic watches of that era.
The large bridge covering the gear train features a hairline finish and is engraved with "ORIENT 23 JEWELS."
It is a simple yet carefully finished manual-winding movement characteristic of Orient at the time.

All watches handled by our store undergo an internal inspection by professional watchmakers upon arrival to confirm authenticity, so you can purchase with confidence.
We will provide a brand new leather strap with your watch purchase.

*For watches that come with original manufacturer straps or metal bracelets, the leather strap will be sent separately as a spare.
A dedicated watch case will also be provided upon shipping.
● Important Information Regarding Antique Watch Purchases ●
At RESUME, we do not ship antique watches immediately after your order is placed. Instead, we commission a specialist to perform an overhaul (OH). Delivery will be made after the overhaul is complete (approx. 1–2 months).
A certified first-class watch repair technician will completely disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts like internal gaskets, clean, oil, and calibrate it to an accuracy of within approximately ±1 minute per day.
Upon delivery, we will include our store’s unique OH certificate, along with photos taken during the disassembly and maintenance process.
While these are vintage items and we cannot guarantee they will never break, we take these steps so you can enjoy the original performance of the timepiece and use it with peace of mind. We appreciate your understanding.
We offer a 1-year warranty on all products. Even after the warranty period expires, we are happy to provide repair services for a fee. If there is no repair shop near you, please feel free to consult with us.
