RADO 60s-70s Purple Horse Cal.2472
RADO 60s-70s Purple Horse Cal.2472
Introducing the Rado "Purple Horse" from the 1960s and 1970s .
The Green Horse, released in 1957 as Rado's first collection, attracted a great deal of attention as a watch with an automatic winding mechanism and water resistance to 12 atmospheres, the highest level of waterproofing at the time, and the seahorse mark on the dial is widely recognized as a symbol of waterproofness.
The following year, in 1958 , sales of "Golden Horse" began in Japan.
With selling points such as high functionality, water resistance, sophisticated design, and a rare Swiss-made imported watch, the Golden Horse quickly gained popularity and captivated the hearts of many Japanese people as a coveted watch.
The Rado Purple Horse we are introducing this time is the last model released in the Horse series.
At the 6 o'clock position on the dial, two seahorses, the symbol of the Horse series and a sign of waterproofness, are depicted facing each other.
At the opposite 12 o'clock position is Rado's anchor mark, the brand symbol.
The anchor rotates depending on the direction of the watch, signifying that the watch is equipped with an automatic movement, a traditional symbol that is still used today.
The case is a round stainless steel case.
When viewed from the front, it has an impressive soft look with gently curved lines, but when viewed from the side, it changes completely to a smart look with pronounced edges.
It is an advanced case design that shows different expressions depending on the angle from which the watch is viewed.
The Purple Horse, which has an atmosphere that is different from the classicism typical of Swiss watches, is a watch that could only have been created by Rado, which places great importance on originality.
The movement is a 25 jewel automatic, Cal. 2472 .
Cal. 2472 is manufactured by ETA , a movement manufacturer renowned in Switzerland.
Although it is still in widespread use, it boasts stable operation and ease of maintenance.
Due to the large number of units produced, there are still many parts in circulation, making it easy to maintain.
This is also a recommended movement for those purchasing a vintage watch for the first time.
Size: height: 43.7mm , width: 38mm , thickness: 12.6mm , weight: 80g .
It's the perfect size to fit an average adult male's wrist, and it doesn't feel too heavy, so it's comfortable to wear.
This simple three- hand watch can be worn in any situation, from business to private.
The condition is good with only minor scratches on the case and no noticeable damage.
There is a small chip on the corner of the crystal near the 1 o'clock position, but since it is a valuable crystal with an inner window and there are no particular issues with visibility or appearance, we are using the current crystal.
If you wish, you can exchange the product at the time of purchase, however please be aware that the appearance of the finished product may differ.
The dial is in good condition with no noticeable stains.
The movement runs smoothly and the calendar function works without any issues.
An aftermarket metal bracelet is attached.

When selling antique watches at RESUME, we do not immediately hand them over to you when you place your order. Instead, we ask a professional craftsman to overhaul them (hereafter referred to as OH) and deliver them to you after the OH is completed. (This takes about 1 to 2 months.)
A professional craftsman with first-class watch repair technician qualifications will completely disassemble your watch, replace worn parts such as the internal gaskets, clean it, oil it, and perform a thorough overhaul, maintaining it to a daily accuracy of about ±1 minute.
When we deliver the machine, we will also send you our own overhaul certificate, which shows what kind of overhaul was performed, as well as photos of the machine being disassembled and maintained.
Of course, due to the nature of the product itself being a second-hand item, there is no guarantee that it will never break, but we ask for your understanding that we take this approach so that you can enjoy the original performance of the watch and use it with peace of mind in the future.
