Introducing the Seiko "Liner" made in 1963 .

Just like with clothes, watches also change in fashion depending on the era, and at that time "large, thin" watches were in fashion.

In 1960 , in line with the trend, the Second Seikosha Kameido Factory released the "Gold Feather" as a high-end thin watch.
Six months after the release of Gold Feather, Suwa Seikosha released "Liner" as a rival.

There are many technical difficulties involved in making a movement thinner, and even though it is a trend, it is not easy to achieve this immediately.

To achieve this, Liner based each part on the Marvel movement and made it thinner.

The resulting change in balance was corrected in millimeters, and we succeeded in making it one-third thinner than the original.

This model had a major influence on later Seiko watches, as the technology used to reduce thickness by improving existing movements was later used to make thinner automatic movements.

Seiko's "Liner" was developed with the theme of being "large and thin."

The case size of 41.9mm in height and 38.2mm in width is larger than models developed in the same era, but with a thickness of 8.4mm it was one of the thinnest among Japanese-made wristwatches of the time.

The case is gold plated with a thickness of 20 microns.
The distinctive lugs are designed to be thin and have an angled cut, accentuating the sharpness of the entire case.

The dial is an SD dial specification that is only used on high-end models.
The sun-like mark at the 6 o'clock position is proof that the dial is SD .
For this reason, the hands and indexes are made of solid gold.

The attractive "Liner" exudes the dignity and elegance unique to vintage watches.

The movement is the hand-wound model Cal.3140 .

It is made by improving the movement of the base "Marvel".

This movement is not only thinner, but also more practical, thanks to the highly-refined S-2 type shock-resistant device and improved jewel materials.

Size: height: 41.9mm , width: 38.2mm , thickness: 8.4mm , weight: 30g .

Since it is a thin model, it will not interfere with your jacket sleeves, and since it is lightweight, it won't tire you out even if you wear it for a long time.

The gold-colored case changes to a lighter hue over time, so it blends in well with the skin and doesn't have that gaudy feel that is typical of gold.
The elegant look goes well with jackets and shirt styles.

As for the condition, there is some damage to the gold plating on the back of the case, such as wear and chipping, but it does not affect the use of the item.
The dial remains in beautiful condition.
The movement is in good condition with no noticeable damage.
It works without any problems.

When selling antique watches at RESUME, we do not immediately hand them over to you when you place your order. Instead, we ask a professional craftsman to overhaul them (hereafter referred to as OH) and deliver them to you after the OH is completed. (This takes about 1 to 2 months.)

A professional craftsman with first-class watch repair technician qualifications will completely disassemble your watch, replace worn parts such as the internal gaskets, clean it, oil it, and perform a thorough overhaul, maintaining it to a daily accuracy of about ±1 minute.
When we deliver the machine, we will also send you our own overhaul certificate, which shows what kind of overhaul was performed, as well as photos of the machine being disassembled and maintained.

Of course, due to the nature of the product itself being a second-hand item, there is no guarantee that it will never break, but we ask for your understanding that we take this approach so that you can enjoy the original performance of the watch and use it with peace of mind in the future.

When you purchase a product, we offer a one-year warranty depending on the model. Even if the warranty period has expired, we will still repair the product for a fee. If there is no repair shop near you, please feel free to contact us.
