SEIKO 63's Sportsmatic Cal.2451
SEIKO 63's Sportsmatic Cal.2451
Introducing the Seiko "Sportmatic" made in 1963 .
Production of the "Sportmatic" began in 1963 and is the model that became the roots of the current Seiko 5 .
By revising the design of the movement and integrating the "receiving plate," which supports the parts, they have succeeded in reducing assembly time and simplifying the structure compared to previous models.
By significantly increasing production volume and reducing production costs, we can achieve excellent cost performance.
Although it is a full-fledged automatic model equipped with Seiko's unique automatic winding mechanism "Magic Lever," it has become popular due to its high cost performance, and various models have been created with changing variations.
The "Sportmatic" we are introducing this time is a highly rare watch with an impressive black dial.
The dial is a unique design, with a sunburst black dial base and line decorations radiating out from the center.
Although not noticeable from a distance, the lines stand out when light is reflected, giving the dial a three-dimensional appearance.
The upright bar indexes, dolphin hands, and pet name at the 12 o'clock position are all silver in color.
The two-tone black and silver color, combined with the unique dial, give it a dignified elegance that doesn't immediately suggest it's a sports model.
The mark at the 12 o'clock position is called the "spinning top mark" and was attached to Seiko automatic winding models at the time.
The movement is 17 jewels, automatic winding model, Cal.2451 .
By hollowing out the inside of the rotor and shifting the centre of gravity to the outside, the rotor's rotational efficiency is increased, and the Magic Lever also provides excellent winding efficiency, making this a movement with extremely stable operation.
Size: height: 43.4mm , width: 36.5mm , thickness: 10.3mm , weight: 45g .
The crown is stored inside the case, keeping the thickness down and making it comfortable to wear.
The casual look makes it easy to pair with casual styles such as denim and chinos, as well as T- shirts and sweatshirts.
The case is in good condition with no noticeable scratches.
The dial is in the same condition as it was at the time, with no signs of wear.
The movement is in good working order and there is no rust to be seen.
The crown was replaced with an original one during the initial check.
