In 1961 , Daini Seikosha (Kameido factory) released the King Seiko (hereinafter referred to as KS ) under the mission to create a Japanese watch with precision comparable to that of a Swiss watch. , It can be said that it is a pair with the “Grand Seiko” (hereafter GS ) announced by Suwa Seikosha in the previous year.

In contrast to the " GS ", which was a model that aimed to be "top-class" in everything, the " KS " was differentiated by making it a reasonable model with as little cost as possible except for the necessary parts.

 Therefore, when comparing the two , " KS " is often seen as the bottom, but in terms of "aiming for a high-precision watch", it is not inferior at all, and rather the movement installed in " KS ". was smaller than the " GS " and had similar accuracy.

The GS , which has a gold-plated exterior and aims for the highest quality in everything, and the KS , which is simple and reasonably priced, but has high precision and ability, are two contradictory pieces that complement each other.

The " KS " introduced this time is a second generation model made in 1964 .
As a feature of the second generation, it has a hack function that stops the second hand by pulling the crown, increasing its practicality.
The dial has a silver sunray finish and a silver bar type index with dolphin hands.
The black logo of " KING SEIKO " tightens the impression of the dial just because it is simply put together.

 The case is 40mm (including the crown), which is a large size. For that reason, the lugs are made thicker, and the short hands are also made thicker, so the overall impression is strong.
The look, which has been stripped of unnecessary decorations as much as possible, has a 60's -like and fearless Seiko-like look.

The crown is equipped with an original crown with the letters SEIKO under W.
The medallion on the back cover has a design with a crown in the crest of the cross seen in the early models.

The installed movement is the initial model of Cal.4420A .
The original 4420A should have been engraved with a 27- stone chronometer notation, but this movement does not have that notation.
This is probably because the movement was made during the transition from the previous model 44A ( 25 jewels).

The 25 stone model of 4420A is very few in number, and you can really feel the transition of history.
Of course, the sickle-shaped control lever, which is a feature of this movement, is still in good condition and works without problems.

The case has some small scratches, but the edges are solid.
The dial is also in beautiful condition with no conspicuous discoloration or stains.
Of course, the movement works well and there is no problem with the hack function.
