This is a 1964 Seiko "Seikomatic Weekdater".

In the early 1960s, Japanese wristwatches evolved into more practical timepieces with the popularization of automatic winding mechanisms and calendar functions.

The Seikomatic Weekdater is an automatic model with day and date display that appeared during this era.
The layout, with the date at 3 o'clock and the day of the week at 6 o'clock, is different from the common day-date displays of today, and reflects the unique character of Japanese watches of that time.

Among them, this model equipped with Cal. 400 is a higher-end version of the Seikomatic Weekdater.
It is a tasteful model that allows one to feel the process by which Japanese automatic watches achieved their perfection.

■Dial and Case Design

The dial is a silver dial with a sunray finish.

Light creates subtle variations in shading, giving a sense of understated depth to the clean dial.

The combination of three-dimensional applied bar indices and slim dolphin hands creates a simple yet highly legible design, characteristic of Seiko's refined aesthetic in the 1960s.

The date display is at 3 o'clock and the day of the week display is at 6 o'clock.
Unlike typical day-date displays arranged in a single horizontal line, the layout with the functions separated at the top and bottom of the dial is a unique feature of the Seikomatic Weekdater.

The "AD" mark can be seen at the bottom of the dial.
This mark is generally understood to indicate specifications for external components such as applied indices, and is one of the subtle details characteristic of Seiko at the time.

The case is a round case with gold plating.
The design, which integrates the crown into the case, ensures a balanced left-right symmetry when viewed from the front, resulting in a clean and symmetrical design.

Despite its glamorous gold color, the slim bezel and elegantly extending lugs give the overall impression a subdued finish.

■Movement

The movement is the automatic Cal. 400.

The Cal. 400 was a movement adopted in the early Seikomatic Weekdater models, and it is a higher-end caliber with 33 jewels.

In addition to the date display, it features a day of the week display at 6 o'clock, making it a highly practical configuration for a Japanese automatic watch in the early 1960s.

Another highlight of this movement is its gold finish.
Although it is usually hidden by the case back, it shows how Seiko at the time put high-end craftsmanship into its practical models.

This movement has a distinct early Seikomatic feel, different from later Seiko automatic movements.

■Styling

Case size: 43.1mm long (including lugs) / 36.9mm wide (including crown) / 11.4mm thick / 53g weight (including strap)

The combination of a silver dial and gold-plated case adds a touch of elegance to your wrist.

When paired with a white shirt or a light blue shirt, the gold color is not too strong, creating a calm and classic impression.
For jacket styles, it pairs well with colors such as navy, brown, and charcoal gray, and has a natural presence when seen peeking out from the cuff.

For a casual look, we recommend pairing it with an unbleached knit, a beige cardigan, or dark denim.
The gold color of the watch won't stand out too much in your outfit, adding a soft, vintage-like touch.

It's a versatile piece that can be easily incorporated into everyday wear and is also suitable for formal occasions.

■Condition

Regarding the condition, the engraving on the back cover is faded.
Also, some of the plating on the lugs is peeled off, but this is not a noticeable area when worn, and it is in a condition that can be used naturally as a vintage watch.

The dial, hands, and indices do not show any significant damage that would detract from the impression, and the movement does not show any particular defects at present.

●Important information after purchasing an antique watch. Please be sure to read the contents.●

At RESUME, when selling antique watches, we do not deliver the watch immediately after receiving your order, but rather
we commission a professional craftsman to perform an overhaul (hereinafter referred to as OH), and deliver the watch after the OH is completed. (The period is approximately 1 to 2 months)

A professional craftsman with a Class 1 watch repair technician qualification will completely disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts such as internal gaskets, clean, and lubricate it.

The watch will be thoroughly overhauled and serviced to an accuracy of approximately ±1 minute per day.
When delivered, we will also send our original OH certificate, which details the work performed during the OH, along with photos of the movement disassembly and maintenance.

Of course, due to the nature of the product being used, there is no guarantee that it will never break, but we take this approach so that you can enjoy the original performance of the watch and use it with peace of mind in the future. We appreciate your understanding.

When purchasing a product, a 1-year warranty period is provided depending on the model. Even for products whose warranty period has expired, we offer repair services, although they are subject to a fee. If you do not have a repair shop nearby, please feel free to consult us.
