This is a 1965 Seiko Matic.

The Seiko Matic was a representative series that supported Seiko's automatic watches in the 1960s.

After releasing Japan's first automatic wristwatch in 1956, Seiko continued to develop its unique automatic winding mechanism, offering models with both accuracy and practicality.

Among them, the model equipped with Cal.6218 was a high-end model of its time, featuring a 35-jewel movement with date and day display.
It is a model that allows you to feel Seiko's technical development, leading to the later Seiko Matic Chronometer and automatic Grand Seiko.

■Dial and Case Design

The dial is a silver dial with a radial sunray finish.
The shading changes depending on the angle of light, showing rich expressions within a simple color scheme.

For the indexes, three-dimensional applied bar indexes with a thin line in the center are arranged.
Sharp dolphin hands are paired with the indexes, and along with the minute markers on the outer edge, the dial is finished to be neat and highly legible.

The applied "SEIKO" logo is at the 12 o'clock position, and "Seikomatic" in script and "DIASHOCK 35 JEWELS" are displayed at the 6 o'clock position.
Furthermore, the date is at 3 o'clock and the day is at 6 o'clock, each surrounded by a three-dimensional frame, incorporating practical functions as design accents.

The case is a stainless steel round case that naturally connects from the edge of the crystal to the case.
The open structure makes the dial appear larger, enhancing the clean impression when viewed from the front.

The lugs extending straight from the case have sharp, beveled edges, tightening the elegance of the dial.

Additionally, the crown near the 4 o'clock position is designed to be housed within the case, making it almost unnoticeable from the front.
This design takes advantage of the fact that the crown is rarely operated daily in an automatic watch, giving the side of the case a sleek appearance.

■Movement

The movement is the automatic "Cal.6218B."

It is a low-beat movement with 18,000 vibrations per hour, and a 35-jewel specification, fitting for a high-end model of its time.
Seiko's unique automatic winding mechanism, "Magic Lever," efficiently transmits arm movements to wind the mainspring.

In addition to date and day display, it also features a hack function that stops the second hand when the crown is pulled, making it a practical design for precise time setting.
Furthermore, consideration has been given to accuracy and durability, incorporating the "Diashock" shock-absorbing device and a fine adjustment mechanism.

■Styling

Case size: Length 44.4mm (including lugs) / Width 36.8mm (including crown) / Thickness 11.9mm / Weight 52g (including strap)

This is a neat and calm piece with a silver dial paired with a black leather strap.

It pairs particularly well with business styles using jackets and shirts, and when matched with navy or charcoal gray outfits, the silver of the dial provides a subtle accent.

On holidays, it is recommended to pair it with simple outfits with minimal embellishments, such as a white shirt, high-gauge knit, or polo shirt.
While having a vintage presence, it is not overly assertive and elegantly completes a smart casual style.

■Condition

The crystal has been replaced with a genuine new one. It is in a clear, scratch-free condition, allowing you to beautifully appreciate the sunray finish of the silver dial and the three-dimensional indexes.

The dial, hands, and indexes are also in good condition.
The case shows minor scratches and scuffs from years of use, but there are no noticeable dents or major damage, making it in good condition as a vintage watch.

The movement is currently operating well.
