Introducing the 1966 Seiko "Lord Marvel."

The Lord Marvel was released in 1958 as the successor to the "Marvel," which was born from Seiko's first full-scale proprietary design.
At the time, the Marvel earned high acclaim for its precision and durability, fundamentally changing the image of Japanese-made watches.

The Lord Marvel was developed as a model that inherited that excellent design while further pursuing precision, quality, and luxury in its exterior.

Later, building on the technology cultivated through the Lord Marvel and Crown, Seiko released the first Grand Seiko in 1960.
Even as the movement toward high-precision domestic watches advanced, the Lord Marvel continued to be produced as one of Seiko's signature luxury manual-wind watches.

■ Dial & Case Design

The dial features a silver finish with vertical hairline processing.
By suppressing the gloss, it brings out a calm, metallic texture that differs from polished silver.
The fine vertical graining gives it a unique character, creating a distinct expression specific to this individual timepiece within its composed design.

In contrast to the matte dial, the three-dimensional bar indices and dauphine hands have a polished finish, balancing legibility and decoration.
The wider index at 12 o'clock serves as the design's focal point, further highlighting the well-ordered balance of the date-less dial.

The top features an applied "SEIKO" logo, while the bottom bears the elegant cursive "Lord Marvel" and "DIASHOCK 23 JEWELS" lettering.
The combination of the three-dimensional logo, indices, and faceted hands shows that it was crafted with meticulous attention to detail.

The stainless steel case features a slender bezel that makes the dial appear larger, while the straight, extending lugs create a sharp profile.
The edges of the lugs add a sense of refined tension to the soft curves of the rounded crystal and the case body itself.

■ Movement

Equipped with the 23-jewel manual-wind "Cal. 5740" series movement.
Based on the shape of the fine adjustment regulator, it is believed to be a Cal. 5740A; however, as the caliber engraving is not visible, it is introduced here as part of the 5740 series.

Building on the Crown series movement, it is equipped with a fine-adjustment regulator for precise timing and a hacking mechanism that stops the second hand when setting the time.
The design balances practicality and adjustment performance with 23 jewels to reduce friction and wear.

The bridges feature a fine striped finish, with "LORD MARVEL," "SEIKOSHA," "23 JEWELS," and a unique machine number engraved.
Even the movement, which is hidden from view, is finished with great care.

Case dimensions: 41.7mm (vertical, including lugs) / 38.5mm (horizontal, including crown) / 10.2mm (thickness) / 42g (including strap)

The low-gloss silver dial and the minimalist, disciplined design pair perfectly with clean styles, such as those centered around jackets and shirts.
Adding a black leather strap tightens the overall look, making it a natural fit for a suit style.

It is also recommended for calm casual styles with knitwear, shirts, or chinos.
It does not stand out too aggressively, and the metallic texture of the dial adds a subtle touch of individuality to your attire.

All watches handled by our shop undergo an internal inspection by a professional watchmaker upon arrival to confirm authenticity, so you can shop with confidence.

We will provide a brand-new leather strap with your watch purchase.
Please select your preferred color from the order tab.
*If the watch comes with a genuine manufacturer's strap or metal bracelet, the leather strap will be sent separately as a spare and not installed.
A dedicated watch case will also be included with shipment.

● Important Information Regarding Antique Watch Purchases ●

At RESUME, we do not ship antique watches immediately upon order.
Instead, we commission a professional specialist for an overhaul (OH) and ship the watch once the process is complete (approx. 1–2 months).

A certified first-class watch repair technician will completely disassemble the watch, replace consumable parts like internal gaskets, clean it, and oil it. We ensure it is serviced to a state where the daily variance is within approximately ±1 minute.
When we deliver the watch, we will also include our shop's original OH certificate, as well as photographs taken during the disassembly and maintenance process.

Naturally, due to the nature of used products, there is no guarantee that they will never break. However, we take these steps so you can enjoy the original performance of the timepiece and use it with peace of mind in the future. Thank you for your understanding.

We provide a 1-year warranty period for all purchases, depending on the model. Even after the warranty has expired, we offer repair services for a fee. If there is no repair shop near you, please feel free to consult with us.
