Introducing the Seiko "Sportsmatic 5 " made in 1966 .

The Sportsmatic 5 was announced in 1963 .

  • automatic winding
  • waterproof
  • Day of the week , date function
  • Crown at 4 o'clock
  • Durable case

This is an automatic watch for men that has attracted attention for the above five features and design.

At that time, thanks to the period of high economic growth, people's lives and watches were becoming more closely connected, and the Sportsmatic 5 became an explosive hit, especially among young people.
The following year, in 1964 , it became the first watch to win the Good Design Award.

Looking at the design of the Sportmatic, one of its characteristics is that the crown at 4 o'clock is housed inside the case.

As a result, even though it has a strong case form with a width of 38.2 mm , the side lines are emphasized because the crown is not visible, creating a clean silhouette.

Next, if you look at the dial, you will see that it is composed of bar indexes and dolphin hands based on a silver sunray finished dial.

The dial catches the light and reflects it beautifully, giving the indexes a three-dimensional feel, creating a design that gives off a sophisticated and luxurious feel.

The movement is a self-winding Cal.6619A with 21 jewels.
It is equipped with date and day of the week functions, and you can quickly advance the date by pushing in the crown.

Not only is it highly accurate, it is easy to maintain, and it is also difficult to break down, making it an excellent movement for everyday use.

Case size is length: 44.6mm , width: 38.2mm , thickness: 12.4mm .
As a vintage watch, it is a little large in size.

Because it has a sporty silhouette, it goes well with replacing the belt with a nylon band, and is easy to incorporate into casual wear such as a denim jacket.

Condition: The case has some minor scratches due to use.
There is no corrosion on the dial, and it remains in its beautiful condition.
The movement is in good working order and the calendar function is working without any problems.
