SEIKO 68's 44 KING SEIKO Cal.4402A
SEIKO 68's 44 KING SEIKO Cal.4402A
Introducing the Seiko " 44 King Seiko" made in 1968 .
"King Seiko" (hereinafter referred to as KS ) was released in 1961 by Daini Seikosha (Kameido Factory) based on the mission of "creating a Japanese-made watch with precision that rivals Swiss watches."
While the "Grand Seiko" (hereinafter referred to as GS ), released by Suwa Seikosha the previous year, was a model that aimed to be "the best wristwatch," this time it was aimed at offering a luxury watch at a reasonable price by keeping costs as low as possible except for precision.
Therefore, when comparing the two, the " KS " is sometimes seen as the cheaper version. However, in terms of being a "high-precision watch," the movement mounted on the " KS " is smaller than that of the " GS ," but it has succeeded in achieving the same level of precision.
"King Seiko" is on par with Seiko's top-of-the-line model, "Grand Seiko."
Without a doubt, this is one of Japan's finest models.
The Seiko " 44 King Seiko" we are introducing this time is classified as a later model.
There are no major changes to the appearance compared to the previous model, but there are some changes to the medallion design on the back cover and the movement specifications.
The 44KS was released as the second generation model and was the first to feature a "hack function" that stops the second hand when the crown is pulled out.
The case is a simple round case, but the lugs are slightly shorter and thicker, giving it a more massive look than any other KS series model.
The unique design is appealing, exuding elegance while also having a casual feel.
The dial is a silver dial with a sunburst finish, and the indexes are upright bar indexes, designed with an emphasis on visibility.
The hands use the wide dolphin-style design common to Grand Seiko watches, further enhancing the strength of the 44KS .
Although it does not have any flashy decorations, its overwhelming presence makes it instantly recognizable as a King Seiko, making it a true masterpiece wristwatch born from Japanese aesthetic sense.
The movement is a 25 -jewel hand-wound Cal.4402A .
The early model has a sickle-shaped lever on the top of the mechanism for the hacking function to stop the second hand, but this later model watch does not have this lever.
It is highly refined and boasts stable operation and high precision.
This movement is equipped with a date function and the date can be adjusted by turning the crown, making it highly practical.
Size: height: 41mm , width: 38mm , thickness: 10.7mm , weight: 46g .
It fits comfortably around the wrist and is designed to be thin and lightweight, so the sleeves won't get caught when you wear a jacket, and you won't get tired even if you wear it for a long time.
The simple design can be worn in a variety of situations, from formal to casual, depending on the belt you wear.
Leather straps go well with suits and jackets, but replacing them with nylon straps instantly gives a more casual feel, and goes well with shirts and T- shirts.
The case is in good condition with no noticeable scratches.
The medallion on the back is also in good condition.
The dial remains in beautiful condition with no signs of wear or corrosion.
The movement is rust-free and runs smoothly.
The calendar and hack functions also work without any problems.
