Introducing the 1968 Seiko "Skyliner".

The Seiko "Skyliner" was born in 1961 as a hand-wound watch aimed at a wider audience, inheriting the lineage of the thin, high-end "Liner" watch produced by Suwa Seikosha.

At the time, making watches thinner was considered a valuable feature.
The Skyliner inherited the refined design and thin style of the Liner, but by streamlining its finish and construction, it achieved an affordable price.
It was said to be aimed primarily at younger generations and was developed as a practical timepiece that also added elegance to one's attire.

Even as automatic watches rapidly gained popularity in the late 1960s, the Skyliner continued to maintain the thinness and simple structure unique to hand-wound watches.
Models equipped with the Cal.6222A, which includes a date display, belong to the "Skyliner Calendar" lineage, further enhancing its practicality.

■ Dial & Case Design

The silver dial features a delicate sunray finish, creating soft gradations of light depending on the angle.
A minute track with fine markings is placed around the outer edge, adding a suitable accent to the clean dial.

The combination of faceted bar indices and sharp dolphin hands is a refined design typical of Japanese watches from the 1960s.
The date display at 3 o'clock is accented with a three-dimensional frame, beautifully integrating a practical function into the overall dial design.
The "Skyliner" in cursive script and the "21 JEWELS" notation below it also add to the charm characteristic of this era.

The case features a clean round form combined with linear, sharp-edged lugs.
While maintaining the light silhouette typical of a thin hand-wound watch, the protruding lugs give a sharp impression to the wrist.

The gently convex domed crystal and stepped bezel add a vintage softness, resulting in a well-balanced design that harmonizes the delicate dial with the strong case lines.

■ Movement

It is equipped with the "Cal.6222A", a hand-wound movement manufactured by Suwa Seikosha.
This 21-jewel movement is based on the Cal.6220, which only indicates time, with the addition of a date function.

The vibration frequency is 18,000 vibrations per hour. The gentle movement of the second hand, characteristic of a low-beat movement with 5 vibrations per second, evokes the charm unique to vintage watches.

The simple structure without an automatic winding mechanism realizes the thin style characteristic of the Skyliner.
You can enjoy the unique charm of a hand-wound watch, feeling the sensation of winding the mainspring as you power the watch.

It does not have an independent quick-set date function; instead, it uses a mechanism typical of its time where the date is advanced by moving the hands back and forth between around 9 PM and 1 AM.

■ Styling

The classic and sharp appearance is achieved by combining a refined silver dial with a black leather strap.
Paired with a navy or charcoal gray suit or jacket, it adds a calm elegance to your wrist.

At the same time, the linear lugs create a moderate presence, making it naturally blend with casual weekend attire such as knitwear, shirts, or chinos.

■ Condition

The case shows minor scratches from age, and there is a hairline scratch on the upper right lug when viewed from the front.
These are not majorly noticeable, but please check the photos in advance.

The crystal shows fine scratches, but it will be polished during pre-delivery maintenance to restore it to a clean condition.

The movement is currently operating smoothly.
Before delivery, it will undergo an overhaul, including internal cleaning, lubrication, and accuracy adjustment.

All watches handled by our store are inspected internally by a professional watch repair technician upon arrival, and are determined to be authentic before sale, so you can use our services with confidence.

When purchasing a watch, we will provide it with a new leather strap.

*For watches with genuine watch straps or metal bands, the leather strap will be sent separately as a spare and not attached.
A dedicated watch case will also be sent at the time of shipment.

● Important information after purchasing an antique watch, please be sure to read ●

At RESUME, when selling antique watches, we do not hand them over immediately upon order.
Instead, we request an overhaul (hereinafter OH) from a professional craftsman, and deliver the watch after the OH is completed. (This usually takes about 1-2 months.)

A professional craftsman, who holds a Class 1 watch repair technician qualification, will completely disassemble the watch, replace worn parts such as internal gaskets, clean, and lubricate it.
We will perform a thorough OH and adjust it to an accuracy within ±1 minute per day.
Furthermore, when delivered, we will include our original OH certificate detailing the work performed during the OH, as well as photos of the movement disassembly and maintenance.

Of course, due to the nature of the product being used, there is no guarantee that it will never break down. However, we take these measures so that you can enjoy the watch's original performance and use it with peace of mind in the future. We appreciate your understanding.

When purchasing a product, we offer a 1-year warranty period depending on the model. Even for products whose warranty period has expired, we offer repair services for a fee.
