SEIKO 70's 61 GRAND SEIKO SPECIAL / Cal.6156A
SEIKO 70's 61 GRAND SEIKO SPECIAL / Cal.6156A
Introducing the Seiko " 61 GRAND SEIKO SPECIAL " made in 1970 .
The 61 Grand Seiko was released in 1968 by Suwa Seikosha as the second generation Grand Seiko automatic model.
What is noteworthy is that the movement it is equipped with, Cal. 6145 , is the first 10- beat automatic high-beat model in the history of Japanese-made watches.
As this was the first domestically produced high-beat model, the various requirements for a watch, such as precision and durability, were extremely high, and development proceeded using all of the technology and experience that Seiko had at the time.
As a result, it has better isochronism than previous movements and achieves more stable, high accuracy even when subjected to posture differences and external disturbances.
It has passed Seiko's own " GS inspection standard," which is said to be stricter than chronometer standards.
It is one of the great watches that had a major impact on the development of later Seiko movements.
The " GS Standard" is Seiko's own testing standard.
The GS standards are said to be stricter than the chronometer standards of the time, and the " 61 Grand Seiko" (hereinafter referred to as " 61GS "), which meets the GS standards, boasts extremely superior precision.
The 61GS Special has precision standards that are stricter than the GS standard and has a movement that has been specially adjusted to meet these challenges.
It boasted top-class precision even among domestic models at the time, and due to its specially adjusted characteristics, it is a highly rare piece with only a limited number available.
The dial has aged to a pale beige, giving it an appealing vintage look.
The letters " GS " and " SPECIAL " are engraved at the 6 o'clock position, and both are colored gold, emphasizing the exclusivity of the " 61GS Special."
The stainless steel case adopts the Seiko style, which emphasizes the surfaces and edges and gives off a sharp luster.
Compared to the standard 61GS , the case diameter is one size smaller, giving the design a sharper look.
At the time, Seiko poured their efforts into developing the 61GS Special as the pinnacle of Grand Seiko in terms of both precision and design.
This is a watch that allows you to enjoy the essence of Japanese manufacturing.
The movement is equipped with the automatic winding model Cal. 6156A .
The movement has been adjusted specifically for this model, ensuring extremely high precision.
In addition, the high beat specification provides high isochronism, so accuracy will not be compromised even in a variety of usage environments.
It is packed with high levels of precision, ease of maintenance, and practicality.
Other features include a hack function that stops the second hand and a day-date function.
The days of the week are written in both English and Japanese.
Both the date and day of the week can be fast-forwarded by operating the crown, making it highly practical.
Size: height: 40.9mm , width: 37.7mm , thickness: 12.3mm , weight: 51g .
It has a simple design that is highly practical, but the sharp luster of the Seiko style gives it a strong presence when worn.
Of course, it goes well with suits and jackets, but it is also stylish, so it can be interesting to pair it with casual styles such as shirts and denim jackets.
Condition: The case has some small scratches, but no noticeable chips.
The medallion on the back cover has some light damage on the edges, but does not affect use.
The dial has changed color due to aging, but this does not affect visibility.
The movement is working fine and the calendar function works fine.
