Introducing the 1964 Seiko Grand Seiko Self-Dater.

The first Grand Seiko (hereafter referred to as GS ) was born in 1960 with the ambition to "create a Japanese-made watch that can rival Swiss-made watches."

At the beginning of development, Seiko established its own unique precision standards that were stricter than the common sense of the time.
Some people said that it would be impossible to commercialize this watch, but by utilizing the technology cultivated in the high-precision model "Marvel" and the first high-end model "Lord Marvel," the watch finally achieved standards equivalent to the superior grade of Swiss chronometers.

At the time of release, only watches that met the high accuracy standard of -3 to +12 seconds per day were considered to have passed the test and were sold with a certificate.

Since then, Grand Seiko has continued to evolve as Seiko's flagship for over 60 years.

The Grand Seiko Self-Date, an early production model of the second- generation Grand Seiko

The silver dial features a beautiful, radial sunray finish that creates shadows on the dial as it catches light, exuding the elegant appearance typical of Grand Seiko at the time.

The three-dimensional bar indexes and thick dolphin hands are arranged in an orderly manner, achieving both visibility and elegance.

This is an early production model with the " Chronometer " inscription at the 12 o'clock position, and it has rare details that were only produced for a short period of time.

The case design is simple yet has an attractive, powerful form.
The wide, thick lugs create a dignified presence, giving the watch a visual identity that makes it recognizable as a Grand Seiko even from a distance.

While eschewing excessive decoration, the polished surface and three-dimensional edges exude a quiet power, resulting in a highly refined design unique to the second- generation Grand Seiko.

The case back is adorned with a lion medallion, and the practical design with a screw-down case back and high water resistance is typical of high-end models of the time.

The movement is equipped with a 35- jewel hand-wound Cal. 430 .

This extremely accurate movement was born from a commitment to precision, and is designed to allow you to fully enjoy the charm of mechanical watches, such as the beauty of the bridge structure and the feel of winding.

Case size: height: 42.8mm , width: 39.4mm , thickness: 10.7mm , weight: 49g .

The design, which combines elegance and strength, blends naturally with a wide range of outfits.
It goes well with suits as well as casual styles such as denim jackets and shirts.

Another attractive feature is its versatility, as you can change the impression depending on the strap, such as by changing the color of the strap or attaching a NATO band.

The case is in good condition with no noticeable scratches.
There is some damage to the medallion on the back cover, but this does not affect use.
The dial remains in excellent condition with no wear or stains and excellent visibility.
The movement is running smoothly and the calendar function is working without any issues.

Equipped with Bambi Scotchgard Black.

When selling antique watches at RESUME, we do not immediately hand over the watch to you upon receiving your order. Instead, we have a professional overhaul (hereinafter referred to as OH) the watch, and then we deliver it to you after the OH is completed. (This takes about 1-2 months.)

Our specialized craftsmen, who are first-class watch repair technicians, will completely disassemble your watch, replace worn parts such as internal gaskets, clean it, oil it, and perform a thorough overhaul, maintaining it to a daily accuracy of about ±1 minute.
When we deliver the machine to you, we will also send you our own overhaul certificate, which will show you what kind of overhaul work was done on the machine, as well as photos of the machine being disassembled and serviced.

Of course, since the product itself is a second-hand item, there is no guarantee that it will never break, but we ask for your understanding that we have taken this approach so that you can enjoy the watch's inherent performance and use it with peace of mind in the future.
