Introducing Seiko's "Grand Seiko Self Data" made in 1965 .
The first Grand Seiko ( GS ) was born in 1960 with the goal of creating a Japanese-made watch that rivals Swiss-made watches.
When the GS was first developed, Seiko set its own accuracy standards, but they were so strict considering the technology at the time that some people said, ``Wouldn't it be impossible to commercialize a product with these standards?''
However, Seiko, which continued development at a rapid pace with a global perspective, leveraged its development experience with the highly accurate "Marvel" and the first luxury model "Lord Marvel", and finally achieved the same level as the Swiss chronometer inspection standard excellent grade. succeed in meeting the criteria.
At the time of its release, watches with a high degree of accuracy (within an average daily difference of -3 to +12 seconds) were considered acceptable products, and were released with a certificate.
