Introducing the Tissot "Automatic" from the 1950s.
Tissot was founded in Le Locle, Switzerland, in 1853.
They developed by creating watches that combined practicality and originality, such as the world's first anti-magnetic watch, "Antimagnétique," and the "Navigator" with a world time function.
It is a historic watch manufacturer that deepened its involvement in the Swiss watch industry alongside Omega.
■Dial and Case Design
The dial is a matte black dial.
While based on a deep black, the texture has softened slightly with age, creating a calm expression that is characteristic of vintage watches.
The hour markers are gold-colored applied bar indexes.
They feature a slender bar base that tapers slightly towards the tip.
The surface is cut, catching light subtly depending on the angle.
Though modest in size, it possesses a three-dimensional feel and good readability, a careful detail typical of the 50s.
Arabic numerals are placed at the 12 o'clock position, with the old "Tissot" logo below the 12 o'clock.
"AUTOMATIC" is inscribed at the 6 o'clock position, subtly conveying its practical nature as an automatic winding model.
The hands have a distinctive design with a flat, widening triangular motif at the base.
They extend thinly towards the tip, creating gold lines that stand out against the black dial.
The case is a round case with a good thickness.
The rounded bezel and raised crystal create a three-dimensional effect when viewed from an angle.
The lugs are slightly long and have a sharp shape that tapers towards the tip.
The straight lines of the lugs, combined with the overall roundness of the case, give it a classic yet refined appearance.
A piece with a great atmosphere, combining the calm of the black dial, the warmth of the gold parts,
and the thick case design characteristic of the 1950s.
■Movement
The movement is Tissot's automatic Cal.23.3 R-21.
It is a 17-jewel automatic movement, and "TISSOT & FILS" is engraved on the rotor.
It features a practical mechanism that winds the mainspring with arm movements, while boasting the substantial thickness characteristic of the 1950s and the robust construction typical of mechanical watches.
This piece houses an automatic movement designed for daily use within a classic exterior.
■Styling
The case size is: length: 39.4mm, width: 32.1mm, thickness: 11.4mm, weight: 34g.
A classic-looking piece with a black dial and gold-colored hands and indexes.
When paired with a white shirt or jacket style, the black dial tightens up the wrist, giving a calm and sophisticated look.
It also pairs well with knitwear and cardigans, with the gold details providing a subtle accent.
Its compact size makes it an easy piece to incorporate into everyday wear.
■Condition
Regarding condition, the case is in good condition with no noticeable scratches.
The dial maintains a beautiful state with no signs of age or corrosion.
The movement is operating well, and there are no issues with its use.
