Introducing the 1950s Tudor "Advisor".
The Tudor "Advisor," the brand's first alarm watch, debuted in 1957.
It's a unique model among Tudor watches, equipped with an alarm function, making it a practical timepiece that "informs" you in daily life.
Early models featured an Oyster-type case and a unique configuration with two crowns for time display and alarm operation.
In addition to the intricate mechanics typical of mechanical watches, the alarm mechanism adds a different kind of enjoyment compared to a standard three-hand watch.
■Dial and Case Design
The dial is a silver dial with a pale ivory tint due to aging.
While retaining its original silver texture, a creamy hue emerges depending on the angle, giving it a vintage look.
Striking are the arrowhead-shaped applied indexes that point inward.
Their distinctive form, different from typical bar or wedge indexes, is a characteristic detail unique to early Advisor models.
The shape guides the eye to the tip of the hands, giving the entire dial a sharp impression.
At the 12 o'clock position is the small rose Tudor logo.
The combination of slender alpha hands and a red alarm hand in the center creates a unique expression within the dignified face, characteristic of a mechanical alarm watch.
The case is an Oyster-type round case seen in early Advisor models.
The clean lines from the rounded bezel to the gracefully extending lugs are beautiful, giving it the dignified outline of a 1950s utilitarian watch.
Two crowns are positioned at 2 and 4 o'clock, responsible for alarm and time operation, respectively.
This configuration, different from standard three-hand watches, naturally conveys its presence as a mechanical alarm watch.
Furthermore, the inclusion of the original rivet bracelet is a significant appeal.
The rivet design visible on the sides of the links blends well with the age of the Oyster case, adding to the overall early Advisor atmosphere of the watch.
■Movement
The movement is a manual-wind alarm movement by A. Schild, Cal.1475.
It features a mechanism to activate the alarm separately from the regular time display, and when the set time arrives, an internal hammer strikes the case back, producing a sound unique to mechanical watches.
The structure, which not only tells the time but also incorporates a function to "signal" the time into a wristwatch, is highly appealing as a utilitarian watch from the 1950s.
It's a movement that allows you to enjoy the unique charm of a mechanical alarm watch, which underpins the Advisor's individuality.
■Styling
The case size is: length: 42.2mm, width: 34.3mm, thickness: 11.3mm, weight: 62g.
If you want to make the most of the small rose logo, the ivory-tinted silver dial, and the original rivet bracelet, a classic style is recommended.
Paired with a white shirt or oxford shirt, a navy blazer, wool slacks, etc., the dignified look of the 1950s blends in naturally.
On the other hand, the lightness of the rivet bracelet also means it pairs well with casual outfits like denim jackets, chinos, or military shirts.
It possesses both elegance and the practical appeal of a tool watch, making it easy to incorporate into both dressy and everyday wear.
■Condition
The case is in good condition with no noticeable scratches.
Although the dial has changed due to aging, there is no problem with visibility.
The movement is operating smoothly, and there are no issues with its use.
The alarm function also works without problems.
It is fitted with an original Rolex rivet bracelet.
