WAKMANN 50's WAKMANN
WAKMANN 50's WAKMANN
Introducing "Wackman" in the 1950s .
Wackmann was active as an official Breitling retailer in Lisbon, Portugal, but in 1943 he moved to the United States and established the Wackmann Watch Company in order to spread Swiss watches to the United States.
After that, Breitling Watch Corporation of America (Breitling USA ) was established through joint investment with Breitling, and in 1947 the company grew to the point where it was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
After that, Wackman began selling watches under his own name, the Wackman brand.
At the time of its release, there was a double name with Breitling, but Wackman has released many watches with original designs aimed at the North American market.
The "Wackman" we are introducing this time is a rare gold-colored model.
At the time, due to US tariffs, stainless steel was cheaper to make, so gold-colored watches were produced in small numbers and were rare.
Due to aging, the color of the dial has changed to a pale beige typical of vintage watches, surrounded by Arabic indexes, and the hands have a dolphin configuration.
The second hand is a small seconds system at the 6 o'clock position.
The case has a design that stands out with the curves typical of American watches at the time.
The lugs that attach the belt are not straight, but have a three-dimensional rounded shape.
The case design matches well with the aged dial, giving it a luxurious atmosphere typical of American vintage watches.
The movement is a hand-wound model with 17 jewels.
You can enjoy the "clicky" tone typical of a low beat vintage watch.
Size: Height: 42.4mm , Width: 35.8mm , Thickness: 10.2mm , Weight: 23g .
It is made in a large size, which is unusual for a watch from the 1950s .
It has excellent visibility thanks to its size and simple dial.
The classic yet casual design goes well with formal clothing such as jackets, as well as casual clothing such as denim jackets.
Condition: There are no noticeable scratches on the case.
Although the dial has some dullness due to aging, there is no problem with visibility and it enhances the vintage atmosphere.
The movement is working fine.
